I've seen ideas of people showing their models, saying ' these are my studs, if you have any mares for them comment below stating their age, breed....'....... How the heck does that work  Suspect affraid Shocked

Definitely doesn't have anything to do with model horse shows scratch

I've heard of this, but didn't bother to look it up. I guess people just pretend?

Well I have been around sites where they add pedigrees to their model horses and then in showing I think you can get shows about best dam or sire etc. Also the ABRB(All Breeds Racing Board) and similar sites that race, show their models etc. use it to gain more points. Hope that's useful and sorry this is an old topic but I felt it hadn't been answered so... tongue

I was confused about this too. How it works is someone puts their stallion or mare up for "breeding". Then if you want to breed your horse you contact them. If they agree, you buy or customize a foal to be their foal. Sorry this response is late. Hope I answered your question!

I have been into pedigreing model horses. It's mostly because people just like to to it and it's a lot of fun too. A lot of model horse collectors have a studfarm for their model horses aranged by breed. To make the model horse hobby more realistic there are lots of things you can do, like resculpting, repainting, making realisc tack that suits the sport that particular breed of horse is used for, ect. Another thing to make a model horse studfarm more realistic is giving your horse a pedigree. It's fun and also very interesting. If you have, for example, a chestnut thoughbred stallion and you want to pedigree him you'll first need to give it a birthday (just the year). If you choose the year 2010 you then need to find a real thoughbred mare thats born at least four years earlier than 2010. The stallion needs to be two year (or three scratch ) years older than your horse. Beside the age of the future parent horses you'll need to take into account that their colour genes must be the right ones in order for the mare to give birth to a chesnut foal. If you have determined that you can go to the web in search of the right parents. The best places to look are real thouroughbred studfarms. If you have found a horse that could be the mother or father you can copy that name and use this website: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] just type in the name. If there are more horses with the same name you'll need to choose the right one, if there are no other horses with the same name you'll be send directly to the horse's pedigree. The achievements of the horse are given there too and sometimes a picture too. By clicking on one of the other names you can see their achievemnts too. You can go back into that horse's pedigree all to way untill there isn't any more information. With thouroughbreds you can find out if it's form Darley arabian, Goddolphin arabian or Bryerley Turk. When you chose the parents you need to make sure that there isn't any insest in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation. preferably no insest at all. So if Horse A is the grand father of the mother and horse A is also the great father of the father you might want to choose different parents. If you are content with your choses parents you can fill in the pedigree chart generator: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] just use the "3 generations" option otherwise it's be to much. It's also fun to combine the name of the parents to find a name for your horse. For example when the mother is called "Raise You" and the father is called "Native Dancer" you could call your horse "Raise A Native"

As someone said before the All Breeds Racing Board uses pedigrees to give horses more points. In that case the parents and grand parents need to have won some great races or have given birth to champions. Pedigrees with great grand children of Man 'O War for example work pretty good to.

Instead of using real horses you could also use someone else's pedigreed model horse but you'll need to ask permission and the year your horse was born in needs to be free if you'll want to use someone else's mare as the mother. (Mostly the open years of the mare are given, for example: open years: 2008,2010 this means you can not use that mare if you want your horse to be born in 2009) When your filling in your pedigree chart and the horse you use is a real horse than you'll place "®️" next to the horse's name.

That was about it for now I think...
I hope this was useful to you and that I was a bit clear.
