Kaiyodo 2016 Tamanduas in fighting/defense position.

Very excited about these two. Very glad I ordered them, and both of them as well.
Walkaround of the normal colored version, with some comparison photos with my other Tamandua, the Mojo Fun one.

Indeed Andreas, the lines between head/body and tail/body are visible.
Animals came with a loose tail you had to assemble.

I realy like the models...and yes, I wanted to see how are looking the puzzle parts...
they are a bit too vissible (like most of the Kaiyodo models) , but all in all, this is one very
interesting Tamandua model :)

Karin, I love these two and that pose turns any lines neglectable. Few animals are as funny as these little tamanduas when they try to look menanacing with their hug pose. Though, with giant anteaters, it is recomendable that we prevent their hug. I really love these creatures, I'd love to know if Kaiyodo tried to represent both tamandua species, Northern and Southern, is there any reference to their species?

I so totally agree with Roger : Those assembly lines do not really matter !
Assembly lines always look much worse in photos. Unless you hold them right under your nose, they aren't really that visible

I have no idea about them being two separate species or colors.

Yes, there are two species of tamandua. The Northern tamandua (Tamandua mexicana) and the Southern tamandua (Tamandua tetradactyla).
They are almost identical... Wikipedia says:

"The northern tamandua is a medium-sized anteater with a prehensile tail, small eyes and ears, and a long snout. The fur is pale yellow over most of the
body, with a distinctive patch of black fur over the flanks, back, and shoulders, that somewhat resembles a
vest in shape. The presence of this colouration pattern makes it possible to distinguish these species from its
southern relative,
which has a more uniform colour."

Seems easy and through this description we could easily think that all tamandua toys are Northern species. Though, it is exactly the other way. Normally, companies don't identify their tamanduas and the species featured is the Southern one once it is more common and better known.
Though, they all present that vest, how is it possible? Southeastern individuals of the Southern species also have a very conspicuous vest turning these tamanduas really similar to Northern tamanduas, as those are more common and companies also have apreference for showing them with this attractive pattern, it turns hard to tell the correct species. When it is not mentioned, it is often a Southern tamandua. The Mojö figure is an example of a Southern tamandua, the same for Play Visions figure that people believed during a long time to be a Northern. Though, these two Kaiyodo seem to represent two distinct color morphs, the lighter one is for sure a Southern tamandua while the one with the darker vest could easily be a Northern tamandua. They can also represent two morph colors of the Southern species.

These Tamanduas give me a headache
But thank you for this information. I red the Dutch Wiki version and my headache went even worse
So, or these two are both an other specie, or both are color variations... Eehhhhh XD

Reading again my comment I am not sure I have explained myself correctly. The fact is that it is really hard to distinguish both species so that's the reason why both have the same exact page on Toy Animal Wiki. They're tamanduas and that's more than enough.

Yes, it could be one of these interesting tamandua subspecies.
There are minor differences between the two nominate species but they're minor differences. For example, Northern tamanduas have ears 20% smaller in average what is a unnoticiable difference. There is bigger color variation between Southern subspecies than between Southern and Northern species propperly. Though, it is almost like trying to identify an American from an European beaver not knowing its origin.
