safari sea otter

I found this little guy in my storage of old toys from when I was a child. He's so sweet! Can anyone tell me anything about him? I can't find any pictures of him online.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A truely wonderful critter to find

He is the male from a pair ( Item no 211302) , made by Safari in 1992 for the Monterey Bar Aquarium .
The set was also sold by Schleich in 1992, - same model ( Market Safari Ltd) but with "Schleich" on the attached leaflet instead of "Safari".

Is he quite special then? I wish I had the other mum and baby, how easy will it be to find?

Also do you know if mine is sold by Schleich or Safari?

My mother used to hide little creatures like this one under my pillow and in my lunch box when I was younger, so he brings back fond memories

You have a fantastic mother

The ones sold by Schleich and Safari in 1992 were exactly the same
But the first ones were a bit darker brown on the body and light grey on the whole head.
So As Schleich only sold them for the first year they were made, yours must be "Safari"
