Schleich 1980 catalogue

I was fortunate to win an old Schleich catalogue on Ebay.
There is no year marked on it, but it is probably from 1979.

With the discussion about the strategy of Schleich/Safari in mind, I think it is very, very interesting to see the variety of products in this little cataloge, - things I never knew Schlaich had made....and bendies

So the lack of emphasis on animal figueres from Schleich is not a new thing.

I have not scanned pages 8 - 17 because they are Smurfs.
But page 18-19 are shown, because they show that Schleich also made pencil-sharpeners and figueres to put on the end of the pencil.

OMG that catalogue is older than me! What an amazing found Susanne :) I didn´t know about nearly anything inside this catalogue, only few animals. It´s fantastic to see what Schleich did so many years ago :)

1) Because the seller said so, but with a questionmark.

Just curious, and wondering if Schleich had only the Classic animals in that time...
But i should know, as i lived in Germany in the 1970's, and i can't remember the bigger animals, they started in the mid 1980's i believe...

Yes, the "big classics" came in 82. The first "modern" farm animals came in 84 and the wildlife in 89

I had the "Wum" dog character(sitting on a pouch) when i was living in Germany in the 1970's, it was very populair, because he was in a saturdaynight show every week...(page 21, no.20)

No, i understand, but that was not the point in the producing in that time as it seems...

The catalogue is actually a booklet from 1980. :)

the first pages from 2 to 7 shows 134 schleich animals with articlenumbers between 10062 Rabit( number 30 on picture) and 14010 camel( number 34 on picture).

There are bigger catalogues from 1979 and 1980.

To stupid i never thought taking catalogues from the German shop where they sold this stuff when i lived there...
I had some Britains flyers from that time, but that was all, and they were worn from turning the pages...

I have those Boule et Bill with the handbrush!

As I see, Schleich made mostly liscenced products at that time.

Shocked to see the difference between today's booklets and the old ones

It seems at that time the animals were smaller and a little cartoony.


I'm sure i see the same animals in thrift store bags and the dollar store. I wonder if some cheap third party toy makers still has the molds to there older style animals


When I had the measles in 1975 or 1976 a neighbor gave me a shoe box of indoor toys, home made tops and people made from wooden cloths pins and a new in the pack set of space men that were bright colors and modular like the finger steps on page 30 but the arms and legs were bendy like the elephant on page 34

Did Schleich make space men in the early 70's
