The reason I decided to make him an "American Azteca" was because he reminded me of both the Quarter Horse mare and the Andalusian stallion.
Originally I was calling him an Andalusian because of his mane and the shape of his face but his body was too similar to the quarter horse so I changed my mind.

The pose of the Andalusian stallion reminds me the illusive, forgoten and misterious CollectA Andalusian.
A model which does not look like any other CollectA horse from the first generation but it doesn't look like the Deborah sculpts which succeded it. It was the last horse of the first wave and immediately retired when Deborah's works entered on catalogue. Something misterious, maybe a kind of lost link from a different sculptor. Well, this is here about Schleich anyway.

Trigger is by far my best custom model.
He is the 2nd model I repainted using pastel chalks and acrylic paint.
I really wish my sealant wasn't so shiny because it almost completely ruins him.
(His body looks the same as the original model but I did fully repaint him from scratch as
I had already painted him once and this was my second attempt at him).

I also painted some figures as a child that now I wish I had not, especially those that are now hard to replace because of their value. But we have to be kind to the little versions of us, we were trying to make our ideal figures without realizing how hard it would be. It's clear you have a creative mind!

Casper was my first attempt at dapples and I honestly don't think they turned out too bad,
However I really hate how his legs look and I think he would look better with a black mane/tail instead.

In other news, I have begun to consider starting a "ColectA Horse" collection.
I'm still looking into how easy/difficult it will be to start a new collection like that from scratch and so far it's looking promising.
In-fact I have already bought my first figure. I wasn't originally planning to buy any just yet as I don't currently have the space to display them,
but It's an interesting model that seemed like it would've been a shame to miss out on, just incase I do decide to start collecting them fully.
I'll post more about it once it arrives.

For now though, this is the end of "Red's Schleich Horse Collection".
Probably not for long though, as my birthday is coming up in just over a week so hopefully I'll have some new addition to share soon .

Oh I think your first try at dapples is really good! They are very subtle and don't look like symmetric circles.

What an impressive collection, certainly the most Schleich horses I have ever seen in one place. Interested to see what you end of thinking of the CollectA since they seem to be a pretty different style.

After seeing several complaints from other collectors online about the drop in quality of the new material of the 2024 models,
I'll admit I didn't have high hopes. However I was pleasantly surprised to find that the quality of the material was nothing like as bad as I had expected.
No it's not as good as the models from the 2000's, but from what others had said I was expecting them to be very flexible/bendy,
but the Friesian at least is reasonably sturdy (the same can't be said for the new Arabian Stallion however).
Again it's not as strong/solid as they used to be, but overall I don't think this is a bad model and I am very pleased with the actual sculpting of the model.
I especially like how one of his ears is turned back, as though he is listening to something, It's a small but very sweet detail.
I think the only thing I would have changed is his shading. Instead of him being completely solid black It would have been nice if he had some
brown hues like the Friesian stallion from 2010 had, It would have just helped given him that little bit extra to make him stand out.
Overall though I can say I am pleased with this model.

I have to say the recent decline in realism of Schleich models has been disappointing to say the least.
In my personal opinion the 2023 models were the worst batch so far and after hearing several people
complain online about the 2024 horses I expected to be disappointed again.
However this little filly was a wonderful surprise and I fell in love with her as soon as I saw her.
Usually I'm not a fan of the bobbly body texture but it actually works well on this model.
I especially love the little hairline details around the top of her back legs. I'm also glad she isn't just solid black.
The model isn't as brown in reality as it looks in the product image, it's more of a greyish black but she has some very nice
subtle shading that really adds a nice level of detail that I felt was missing from the new Friesian stallion who is just one solid colour.
From what I've seen of the 2024 horses so far, this Friesian filly is my favorite of the bunch and I recommend this model to any fellow collector.

I was skeptical at first about this model as I'd heard from a few other collectors that her front leg (the bent one)
was oddly positioned, so I decided to wait until I saw the model in person before buying it.
The store I went to had 5 of the model and all but one (the one I bought) did in-fact have a very wide gap between the two front legs.
The leg on the other models was sticking out at an unnatural angle from the horse's body.
The model I bought was the only one who's front leg was in line with the back one.
The paint work and shading on this model is very nice, although the dorsal stripe is a little wonky/uncentred but that's really just a nit-pick  
(I'll forgive small paint errors as they are hand painted so there's bound to be mistakes)
and again the material of the model isn't as bad as I was expecting, after hearing others complain about how cheep the new material of the 2024 models seems.
I was expecting it to be very flexible/bendy but like the Frisian stallion she is reasonably sturdy.
The legs do bend slightly more than previous models but it's not as bad as I was expecting.
Overall I'm pleased with the model, but I recommend collectors to buy it in person rather than online if possible due to the weird leg defect some of this model seem to have.
Side note, she does have some small bumps and marks but she was store bought and they often get scraped up a bit so I'm not judging too hard on that.

I have to admit when I first saw the product images for the 2024 models the Arabian Stallion was my favorite of the bunch.
However after seeing him in person I'm afraid to say that he is actually the worst of the new 2024 models.
Firstly the paint work. In the product image the white Rabicano pattern is faded and subtle and blends into the black nicely.
In reality the model has very obvious white lines under it's belly and while Rabicano horses do have white lines,
they are usually much smaller/thinner and are blended into a larger white marking around the under belly.
The markings on the model look unnatural and far from realistic.
However the biggest issue I have with this model is that It's legs are very thin and extremely flimsy.
The store had 5 of this model in stock and only 2 of them could stand up correctly without leaning to one side or falling over completely.
It would not take much force to bend it's legs out of shape.
In-fact if you push down on the model it's legs begin to bend under it (this is not a problem any of the other 3 2024 horses I bought have).
The sculpting of the model isn't bad, I like the face (although it is a little bit too dish faced for my liking) and the body is nice,
however there's something off about the proportions of the neck, I think maybe it should have been a little taller but overall it's a nice sculpt.
Honestly I'm very disappointed by this model. I could maybe forgive the paint work but the weak/flexible legs are a massive drop in quality
and I worry it's going to get bent out of shape just standing in my display cabinet, so I can't imagine what damage giving it to a child to play with would do to it.
I honestly wouldn't recommend this model to anybody, not to collectors or parents, which is a shame because I really wanted to like this model.
Also his hooves have no detail, they're just textureless grey blobs....
