What animal is this ? Bornean bearded pig (Sus barbatus)

I was just watching a wildlife programme and they showed a quick shot of an animal in the Amazon Rainforest. The programme wasnt about this animal and so didnt say what it was but I have never seen such an animal before. It looks really ugly and is so strange!

Here are some snapshots from the programme. Anyone seen this before? It cant be a Capybara, Agouti, Mara, Peccary or Tapir so what is it?

Is it a wire-coated lion?

Actually it looks like a Bornean bearded pig (Sus barbatus). But what this animal could do in a South-American forest ????

My goodness and I thought the Babirussa was ugly. This has to be one of the ugliest animals I have seen! My goodness! Thanks for clarifying this.

Sorry, the programme was about the Amazon Rainforest but the video footage of the pig was shown for a brief second during a small section where they discussed other rainforest in the world. They quickly skimmed through some weird creatures and then showed this and I have never ever heard of this animal before.

You think you know what mammals are out there and then something as surprising as this comes along. What a strange world!!

I have just looked at some photos and actually the pig is not as bad it is looks in the photos above. Its clearly a wild bushpig /boar from the region but with extra hairs on top of the snout area. However in the video clip you cannot see the snout whatsoever and so it looks like some alien animal with a furry mouth and a partition running across the top hence why I yelped as soon as I saw the clip

However I have just looked at other photos and the animal and it looks fine when it doesn't have all the hairs. Clearly the animal filmed had a hairier snout than normal hence why it looks so deformed or strange to me. Phew...I can sleep with no nightmares tonight...
