Hi Friends this month we can share the okapis of our collections, So we must make pics of that fabulous animal
Characteristics
-Okapis are herbivores

- They prefer altitudes of 500 to 1,000 m, but may venture above 1,000 m in the eastern montane rainforests.

- They have reddish dark backs, with striking horizontal white stripes on the front and back legs, making them resemble zebras from a distance.

The body shape is similar to that of the giraffe, except okapis have much shorter necks. Like the giraffe, the okapi has long legs and a robust body.

Okapis are 1.9 to 2.5 m (6.2 to 8.2 ft) long.

-Okapis are primarily diurnal.

The okapi was known to the ancient Egyptians; an ancient carved image of the animal was discovered in Egypt.

I don't have any Okapi figures as I don't collect them, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone's collections!

Susanne your CLAIRET is the big version, CLAIRET made also a smaller one I will show then. Could you share more pics of it ? It has not the classic colors of CLAIRET models...

By the way, the COLLECTA are now on my wantlist.... alas for my wallet

I agree with Anna, this poor tapir is beautiful, even in used condition... even if it is a very odd tapir

Here are mine: First, the flock

Foreground : CLAIRET tapir and PLAYVISIONS

At last, a composition model I won on a batch a few years ago. It was badly repainted so I didn't add it to my collection but was unable to let it go.

I began to repaint it because, it couldn't be worse...

The only tapir I have is the Schleich one for right now. Great collections everyone! I especially enjoy seeing all the older companies little guys from Clairet, Britains, etc. :)

here are my 3 okapis. the original safari, the amazing papo, and the K&M from the congo nature tube. the schleich okapi looking very tempting for my collection
