Harriet's schleich additions

This morning I received the Schleich Tapir and another model, which I'll post in the Papo section.

I really like it and I'm pleased I bought it, has a very cute face, I hope they bring out a couple of calves to go with it.

"taper" means to decrease or peter out, get thinner or come to an end. It sounds like Tapir

Hello, congrats on the Tapir. That second one, although quite big is really nice. The paint finish is lovely and the sculpting. What brand is it? Do they then make more animals in that series? Would be great to see a website.

I have two slightly different versions of the Tapir. One has white paint around the eyes like your one and one doesnt. I prefer that one that doesnt, it looks just that little bit realistic. The difference depends on whether it is the Portugal or China Model and I think it is the Chinese model which is better. The same for the Yak. The German Yak is made from a glossier plastic whereas the China Yak Model is of a much better matt paint finish. Check out your models and you will see..

The big tapir is a dokidoki tapir made by Phat company.

Then my mistake it is the German/Porutgal one that doesnt have the white eyes. I am at work so was not able to check. I have 3 Schleich Tapirs two of them dont have the white eyes and ones does. They are from different countries.

Is the PHAT company Tapir heavy? or hollow? Lightweight or dense? I hope they make more animals in the series. I see they make a Llama, Capybara and Shoebill.

Phat company Tapir is quite heavy & made of plastic.

I haven't seen aTapir in a store over here yet. Nice up close photo. I love the eyes on the animal and the little bit of pink around the lips. I think the Schleich artists did a great job on it! Thanks for sharing. :) ~Sue

2010 was the tapir's year! No doubt about it!!! They look that are seeling well!!! We are always thinking about which win the race but who lost it was CollectA!!!
In Portugal the tapirs are sold as anteaters (tamandua) all children wants an anteater and so they get a tapir!!!
About the painting remember that the best fox and lynx of all brands are made in Portugal (the old Schleich fox and the new schleich lynx).
Something are telling me that the portuguese painters are the best. I'm not being partial, all of you know that I am not related to this country!!!

I am also thinking of buying the 3 famous tapirs for 2010.
We will see...Maybe the Schleich moose family too...

and i thought, all the Schleich tapirs were made in Portugal, as i bought mine in Germany, but got the Portugal model...
