Schleich 2014 - Arabian Mare 13761

I don't know why but I actually like this horse .. I know the braids and proportions and huge eyes are horrible but its striking if anyone gets me ..call me crazy     

I will be buying the Arabian mare , trekener stallion and three riders with those horses for 2014 :)

I think she does have some kind of "hotness" - which can make her attractive to some, realistic or not.

Like, some artists design Anthromorphic characters, and people fall in love with them. Maybe same kind of mechanism.. I don't know   

She looks like a saghya or a polish arabian ^^ Side without braiding is better (good neck even for an arabian horse )

Congratulations Carola, I think this figure can play interesting roles in your photo stories and drawings, she certainly is a different thing Thank you for more photos of her.

Polish arabian?   

In the following links you can see some of best (or with most influence for the breed) polish arabian mares like Pilarka , Bandola ,Algeria , Pianissima  (  )  , Etruria , Kwestura

As you see they may be quite diverse but what you can see is always swan neck (not carousel horse neck), beautiful lines, small head, and barrel is never too short/too small for the rest of body parts. Proportions of these mares are always full of harmony. Not even mention the shiny eyes  (instead of alien eyes of the Schleich figure)   
 

I don't see any of the resemble of schleich figure to these polish arabian ladies    Schleich girl charm comes certainly not from realism or resemblance of real breed, she's very highly stylised. It doesn't mean it's something wrong with liking her of course!    I just wanted to say, please, don't mix this, somewhat cartoony silhouette with real horse world. (especially polish arab horses are close to my heart, so I had to say this part about them, I hope you don't consider this comment unkind)   

BTW, the horse model which I think really resemble polish arabians to me is Weather Girl by Breyer, really wonderfully sculpted horse

Carola, I was never an enthusiast of most of Schleich wildlife figures but I always appreciated the work of the brand with horses and cattle. Some years ago, it was easy for me to recognize that Schleich horses were the best among major brands. These last years, I see all other companies improving and Schleich walking towards a very childish style. So, it doesn't surprise that my preferences with horses are also migrating to other companies.
Honestly, it makes me sad, I understand why some people love it, there is no problem in it, there is no problem of enjoying a Lego or Playmobil horse either, though, it is useless to try to save a figure that was not made to be realistic, it is not lack of competence, just commercial orientation as Susanne wisely commented.
I commented some years ago, much before this flowered wave, that Schleich was taking a toyish orientation and turning in an uninteresting pop culture company. Unfortunately, it looks I am good guessing things about Schleich but I was never able of guessing that the brand would go soooo far! I even joked saying that one day Schleich would make a yellow eagle with pink spots! Now I think in all these flowers, hearts, braids, pink bows, etc.
It is good to enjoy it but not good to try to comapre with the real thing, Arabian horses are wonderful animals and who really loves Schleich as much as I do, can see clearly that these figures don't give justice to the good tradition of the brand making great horses.
I have an idea, Schleich could keep their respectable line of horses with the traditional competent figures and open a junior line with these childish and flowered new releases. Schleich did it before with dinosaurs. In 14 new 2014 releases, they could split between serious things and these plastic cartoons...

Carola, your versions of these horses are much better than originals again!
Especially Shire started to look like a Shire horse (even with all those decorations). It surely was more difficult to do with Arabian, she is much better now but still, I think her hind legs are a bit too long. Anyway, her proportions are very much improved.

Generelly I think not the braids and decorations on the new Schleich horses is a problem, it's the unreal proportions that's the issue.
