| The platypus is also very special, - one ofd the few that MOVES I have never seen a live platypus, but this one give the impression of loose, velvety skin , and a very muscular, active critter, instead of the static ones we usually see in models Just look at THIS cutie |

| well it took me a while, but I found this topic. I did not know it was moved to additions, but no problem, I'm glad it moved :) Anyways, I got a rare one today. Its the Sulfur crested Cockatoo. I relly lik the pose on this one. Its like its either startled, or excited. This figure is something special for me, because I had some experience with Cockatoos My Dads Dad, used to have a Bird syndrome, and bought several birds as pets, and three of them were cockatoos. The first one was a Umbrella one named Babe, and he Was a very unpredictable bird. One moment your having fun playing with him, and the next, he bites you in the neck (Not the happiest moment in my life) The second one was a Molocan named Peaches. Now at the time I occasionally get nervous when handling birds, because i'm always afraid they were going to bite my fingers off. But Peaches was a Sweetheart at birth, and she never bit me. The third one was Baby, another Umbrella that I don't know much about, because My Grandpa gave him away after a week due to feather problems. Eventually, My grandpa had to get rid of most of the birds due to finances and a divorce. The last time I saw him, He had Peaches and a Macaw that he loved named Jewel. He asked me if I wanted Peaches, and I said Yeah. But my mom could not handle the constant screeching that she makes, So we gave her away to someone else. Sadly, he died just at the beginning of last year and Jewel Was sold to a local Pet Shop I have been looking for this model for a decent price because it is a cockatoo, and it very much reminds me of those days I spent with him. | Congratulations with finding this beautyful model And thankyou for the wonderful story about your grandad's " Bird syndrome " I surely understand him ! And parrots are very special, very intelligent . The only one I had was a budgie, but he was a darling I am so sorry to hear that peaches had to be moved around so much. They suffer when they loose a human friend Hopefully she got a good home eventually |

I boght this over the newer swimming one, because it was sculpted by Dan LoRusso. He sculpted the Hippo, and Cheetah I have as well. |
