But maybe bred at Moscow Zoo, nobody is sure about that. Nevertheless, the calf is healthy, and the mother took good care for it.Of Course it is now the star Attraktion at the park-maybe Hagenbeck should sell collectas walrus and calf in the gift shop ? |

| Third gorilla within six monsths born at Stuttgart Zoo- all are mother raised. It is Number 35 in the successful breeding. The same day, also at Duisburg Zoo a gorilla was born, also raised by its first time mother-good gorilla year in germany.
"Rapti", female indian rhino at Munich zoo is pregnant and du in August. It will be her third calf, but one first was dead born, the other died the enxt day. So hopefully, this time the calf will survive. |

| First gorilla in a zoo was born in 1956-"Kolo"at Columbus Zoo and-still alive ! Goriila sare breeding regulary in human care since the 60ties and nowadays, gorilla birt ar enot that speicl as they were in the 70ty or 80ties. Because many gorillas are born each year, some zoos has started twenty years ago to keep bachlor groups-so only males, becuase you can keep only one adult male in a family group.Bachlor groups are normally in the wird for many social species-lions,apes, antelopes, equids, elephants, giraffes....
But nevertheless, of course it is a very special thing, if three gorillas were born within just 6 months. |

| Second walrus born at Hagenbeck June 5 ! The second wlrus calf within a year after the birth of"Thor"last year June 15! Mother"Polsa"is a first time mother and take good care for her daughter, but both are behind the scens for the first few weeks. It is the first time ever two walrusses are born in the same zoo within a year.In the next weeks,"Thor"and his Mother"Dyna"will move from the sealion pool to the walrus pool, so"Thor"will met the first time his father"Odin", Good time, because sommer is mating season for walrusses, so if"Odin"will mate with"Dyna"again, what is very possible, so maybe she will give birth again next year!Hagenebck is very lucky to have now two breeding females and a good breeding bull!So lets hope, the breeding will continue"
If Hagenbeck would sell Collecta in the giftshop, I'm sure the walrus with calf would be a bestseller! But, of course, they sell Schleich. |
