| Thanks for the information Shawn! :) Unfortunately the Croc was right! That's really a hard figure and the catalogue picture looks great. So I'm glad Papo is working it until the last detail to give us the best piece possible. Inspired by Robert I must say that it is better a fantastic gemsbok at Christmas than a poor reindeer at Summer! |

| Subject: PAPO ANIMALS MADE of HARD PLASTIC or RUBBER Sun Aug 05, 2012 3:27 pm | |
| I noticed that PAPO produces ANIMALS OF THE FIRST EDITION IN HARD PLASTIC AND NEXt in RUBBER. Is this true? THE ANIMAL made of RUBBER IS down Quality? ECONOMICALLY LESS? What do you think? for example the Orangutan, I've got 2 animals in different material. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Curiously my old Papos are softer than my new Papo figures. All of them are made of soft plastic but some are harder than other, I don't know the reason. I also have Schleich that look rubber and some really hard. It happens with the orange cat. I have a preference for harder figures but sometimes it is better to make them in a softer material due to delicate parts. Safari, Schleich and Mojo have the figures with hardest material among modern brands, mainly Mojo, sometimes it doesn't look pvc but an expensive material. CollectA has a diversified range of materials and Bullyland are usually soft and light. In addition my Schleich wisent is very soft but the yak is like Mojo. |

| Same with my schleich like the rare elephants, the old crocodiles....... They probably changed to making them out of plastic because they have better quality wich will make more people want to buy them |

| I had no idea that Papo made the very same type of figure out of different materials at different times. My Papo Hippo and Black Rhino are made from the rubbery material. I would prefer them to made from hard plastic.
Perhaps they found that the rubbery material was much safer for children. I keep having to remind myself that their decisions are mainly driven by catering to the safety of children and not to what collectors will prefer. After all, the first time I ever saw the Rhinoceros, it was in my (then) 5 year-old niece's collection and my first thought was to wonder whether my (then) 2-year old nephew was going to poke his eye out.

| Hello ! I've got some horses made of hard plastic and some made of rubber. I think rubber is way better than plastic because one of my plastic ones fell and broke his tail, both ears and a leg. Another, made of rubber, fell to an it wasn't broken.

| Subject: Papo oryx, YESSS !!! Fri Aug 17, 2012 7:17 pm | |
| When I opened the package and saw this model, I almost got goose flesh on my arms Perhaps, if you are not accustomed to Papo, you will find the usual papo-features : The head is glued on and his legs are designed to make sure that he does not fall, - but who cares ? I LOVE this model !!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Together with his friend from Schleich [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
