| I recently had a really lucky find at a local general antiques fair, a Britains/Herald plastic billy goat in mega rare WHITE plastic! It was only made for a short initial period in 1958, before changing to the regular plastic colours of tan or dark grey, also in photo for comparison. I found it, on second look, at a stall which had (very!) assorted array of small collectables on their table at UK£1 per item. In my first look I had found an aluminium French soldier by Quiralu, and found the goat when I went back for a second look in case I'd missed any collectable vintage figures (of any material). As I suspected, and after discussions with other Britains experts, it is worth a lot more than £1. How much? you ask. I couldn't possibly say. |

| To add a bit more variety on this theme, here are the same 3 Herald billy goats + 2 Hong Kong copies in white and black plastic, the latter with white paint, and between them an unusual copy in shiny metal from ???? |

It's the one on the left, white plastic with black paint. (or top left in 2nd photo) The other two, the normal ones, are tan or dark grey plastic with white paint. |

| I imagine we'll both be looking out to complete the sets, especially those even more elusive nanny goats without collars/bell. They're the sort of figures you don't ever see, until one turns up in an eBay mixed lot or a bag/box/tin full of assorted animals at an antique fair, flea market or car boot sale. Ditto the dark brown plastic cattle (plastic versions of previous lead cattle). And in Britains/Herald non animals: Soldiers with early Zang logo. The Sikh at attention. Polar explorers English Civil war Life Guards & Horse Guards on early standing horse, Life Guards in white plastic, Horse Guards in bright blue plastic. etc., etc. |
