First Britains in February, first Britains in 2012... Well, first Britains EVER

Today, a small package arrived, with a greaaaaat help of our dear Susanne. I was after this wonderful Hippo, but other aren't bad at all. I have a feeling these won't be my last Britains

The first time I saw a Britains it was the vintage sable, at this moment I was seeing a very small figure, painting in poor condition, a bent leg and a horn more curled than the other. During a long time I gorgot Britains!
But, when I saw Martien trading the hippo and the Indian rhino I got curious again! After receiving them I started to think how huge are modern figures, and althoug better painted, modern figures are usually poorly sculpted in terms of body proportions and not talking about scale. Now I love Britains what is curious once I usually don't like brands but figures.
That was a brand absolutly impossible for me if it was not the nice gifts of the friends of the forum and also the trades.
It turns Susanne gesture even more valuable once it is also not easy for you!

Yes, it's hard even for you, although you have much easier and cheaper way to find these guys with trades. My situation is worse, thanks to our beloved Post Office

I too have got "the bug"...and have some Britains arriving next week.
We may need to have a separate Heading for Britains.

I was able to Google some information about the history of Britains. Very interesting.

There are still figures being made out of metal it seems. Looks like mainly figures of wars / soldiers and the company is called William Britains Ltd. I think. But not the animals except for the horses they are riding on. Very expensive figures too.

I love the hippo and need to find me one of those.

Congratulations on these wonderful additions. They are great. I have quite a few as well that I treasure dearly.

Great new additions, the Britains plastic gets more tempting. I like the lead but it is more expensive to find nice ones.

Tim, the lead is more expensive and it seems that their paint goes off much easier than from the plastic ones

That hippo, truly one of my all time Britain's favorites!
