Walruses are fantastic pinnipeds, impressives and so easily recognizable with their two emblematic teeth. So it is not surprising that the Toy industry made a special place for this animal. Many brands from the early XXth century to nowadays produced walrus figurines. I will not talk here of the "big size" walrus toys like the old composition one or the famous "M+BSchleichPapo" standard. As I was looking at my shelves, I thought it could be a nice idea to invite you to a "1/32" scale walrus meeting. From the old 1933 Britains Grand'Pa to the recent 2015 Eikoh one, a few Arctic tusky citizens punctuated the Toy history. Here are the ones I own, I apologize for the missing first Britains plastic, Marx and Timpo walruses. maybe other members will complete the family portrait.

This "Back to the Future" topics is a brilliant idea from you. I love it once it tells the story of a certain animal over the years. How incredibly the world changed from that lead walrus to the current Eikoh! I am quite surprised with the Hausser, it is very unusual with small tusks and strange head. Mr. Eikoh wins the prise of photogeny but apparently it is the Takara that pleases me more. Thanks also for these comparison pictures, they're always very useful!

The scale, - 1 : 32 sounds very precise I am almost sure these are not 1:32, - but they are little [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The oldest one is from Safari Authentics Arctics set, the smaller one from Safari Arctic TOOB, and the smallest/newest one from Panini

Thank you Anna, Andreas, Rogério and Susanne @Roger: I like the "back to the future" idea too . I hope I will spread a new disease here The hausser is a little bit odd as are all the "not in scale" animals of the 54mm series and the Takara is the most impressive for me... I also like the Coloratabecause he has so much proudness in the eyes @Susanne: 54mmm, 1/32... We don't care, all the small walruses are welcome

| Christophe, I am not sure about 199%, you're probably right. I was not sure before I posted the pictures. From the color the babies fits more to the walruses. But their form belongs rather to the seals. Elastolin shows only the numbers in the catalog and wrote no names. Exists a Walroßbabys that is not showing in this catalog 1972 by Elastolin, perhaps in an older catalog? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ Yvette

The 5411 is supposed to be the baby The 5412 is teh sea lion and the 5419 is the earless seal family - snakemaq wrote:
