Back to the Future: Some small mandrills assembly Empty
PostSubject: Back to the Future: Some small mandrills assembly    Back to the Future: Some small mandrills assembly EmptyWed Apr 27, 2016 6:18 pm

Species of monkeys are not the most common animals in the Toy world. In the past, companies produced generic monkeys figurines and of course a bunch of apes.
For Charles Darwin "no other member in the whole class of mammals is coloured in so extraordinary a manner as the adult male mandrill's". That's probably why Mandrills are one of the exceptions of the no specific monkeys rule.

From the old CGB Mignot to the last Eikoh model, many companies made Mandrill toys, in lead, composition or plastic.

This time I want to show you a small sized mandrill community. All of them in plastic, PVC...  Wink  Because I forget my old CBG mandrill  Rolling Eyes
I also forget the even smaller Marx one  Embarassed

So, here they are:

K&M, K&M, Safari Ltd, K&M, Furuta, Noah's Pals, Playvisions, Starlux, Albert Heijn and Eikoh

The Furuta Chocoegg 7 Mandrill realized in 2003 after the end of the partnership between Kaiyodo and Furuta. This is the only sitting mandrill of the assembly.

I love these topics as you know Christophe! Mandrills are one of your passions. When I think in vintage monkeys, I always think in all these similar looking barbary macaques in composition. A kind of Gibraltar souvenirs. Laughing I am surprised that you don't have the small Bully mandrill. About favorite? Starlux for sure! Very Happy

Barbary macaques! I guess they were popular animals among Composition toys makers because, like apes, they have no tails and were easier to make.

No I don't wanted the small Bully mandrill in my collection, you know I don't like to collect every models, even of a species I like very much. I simply can't be a Single animal collector, it is out of my capabilitie. Embarassed

Your favorite is excellent Wink
