Yes, indeed ! You are a wonderful person with a wonderful dream, - I hope it come true cheers

Grazie Susanne ! I am simple person who just like to share my love for these figures with children, and since Ive lived and worked with street children in India, I have seen many schools where the kids have no internet , books or recreational programs.. this idea just slipped in out here on the forum, I believe just doing things for happiness is also important .. Like the Kids visiting a miniature museum of animals ??.. except this museum moves around !! Martin Holous has this Facebook diorama page which is excellent and gives us collectors peace and joy making pics with the figures.. similarly I think it wud be a good development tool if implemented well with kids using these figures sunny ...crazy idea but yes iit sound like adventure... Ive done Play acting workshops with kids before teaching them Theatre !! instills confidence in them to express themselves freely Very Happy

CollectA has officially brought me back into my collector's alter ego once again. I was in hiatus for two plus years. And now I am waking up from my long slumber.
Thanks Numaan for showcasing these beautiful creatures.

So....this plain, anonymous antelope no regular person has ever heard of, without any flashy colours or impressive coat and without any distinguished special features like funky horns, a camel bump or even maybe an extra 5th leg+wings is being made by CollectA and it gets 3 pages on STS.

I love this community!
It shows the love, dedication, interest and knowledge of animal and/or species lovers on here. sunny
If every STS member would buy a Hirola then CollectA would be out of stock first day January 2016.
LOL!

I totally agree with you Bloodrayne, it's a great idea from Collecta to shed a light on this highly endangered yet mostly unknown antelope.

Shame on me, even if I have a particular fondness for the bubals I had never heard of this specie. Now this is a must have for 2016 !

And here I am, the only one disappointed there was supposed to be a impala but it was a hirola instead  Sad
To me the animals do not look alike at all. So much, I would probably never mix them up. Oh, well.  Smile
I actually remember this species from one of my books, I think simple because I liked the name.
It's a gorgeous model. And it's so fantastic to see Collecta make such rare animals, not just the big five over and over again.
I'm sure to buy it when my time comes to really take my antelope/herbivore/non-horse collection seriously Very Happy

So, I kept wondering about those spots beneath the eyes on this figure and started some research and apparently those dark coloured spots are glands. They use it for marking their territories. And that's why they are sometimes called "four-eyed antelope".
I can totally see that now.
How cool is that?

Good tip maybe for CollectA?
Put: "did you know that this animal <insert funny facts>" in the catalogues.
It can totally make people see a pretty bland looking animal figure in a completly different light.

Commercially, as toy animal replicas, they result very similar and that's the point here discussed. The real creatures are not hard to identify but surely they bear some similiarities. Very Happy

thanks for the comparison pics.  This is the reason why I tried to convince them to look at Hirola instead of Impala. Of course they are different antelopes. I know that.  BUT to the average non-knowledgeable person in the street just the horns will make them think it could be an impala.....colour, horns, ears are similar.

To those people who are sad about not having an Impala - how long before one is made by another brand?  Why make an Impala now if another brand is going to make it anyway - it is one of the more 'obvious antelopes'.  Think Kudu - everyone has more or less made one at some point and I am sure it will return again in another version.  With CollectA the mountain Nyala was chosen - a close and similar looking relative but more endangered and one which no one else would think of making.  A final animal was the Scimitar Horned Oryx - chosen when the topic of 'Oryx' came about. It is another close relative of Gemsboks/Oryx but we have had those from other brands already and we will have them in the future (Schleich 2016).

Imagine if Collecta made Impala, Gemsbok and Kudu. Everyone would wonder why no one makes a Scimitar Horned Oryx, Mountain Nyala or Hirola.  The Saola was an obvious choice for me instead of Anoa - both are unique but one more than the other despite looking similar (apart of from length of horns).  Amur leopard was brought to their attention instead of just making another general leopard and also the same for King Cheetah instead of just Cheetah, striped hyena instead of just Hyena and Blackbuck instead of the common Gazelle......I am just happy that CollectA are willing to try these things for all our sakes. It's about thinking outside the box for educating children but to also please us collectors....anyway that's my point over with Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

In my opinion CollectA is an innovator rather than replicator.....and I hope they remain this way for years to come.

Excellent tip for the catalog:!(o)): ! I see CollectA has become interestingly an excellent Educator using toy figures to reach out to kids study they are like a miniature museum , zoo , animal encyclopedia ! some major brands do not even label the figures scratch , but collectA has every figure labeled and so the HIROLA when purchased off the shelf of a toy store will be a new learning for many Kids and adults in the world of toys. cheers

Yeah man, They are unbelievably good in choosing and deciding which rare species to produce. Some of them if not all, I never even know there are such animals to begin with. Really kudos to the people behind CollectA's research group.
