| I have a question about the Safari Farm Horse Appaloosas from the early 1990s. I have the foal, it is on the same mold as the Saddlebred foal, are the Appaloosa stallion and mare also on the corresponding Saddlebred molds? I just bought a lot on ebay that has a blanketed appaloosa dated 1993, (they haven't arrived yet so I don't have it in-hand) however, the mold looks like the farm series Palomino mare mold so I am confused. Any help would be most appreciated. I normally refer to the Toy animal Wiki but there are no photos available of the 1993 Appaloosas.
One more question, has anyone ever published a collector's guide to Safari Ltd animals similar to the Gascher's Schleich book? I would love to find one if such a thing were to exist.

| There's a family of Appaloosas, from 1993 with the same exact molds of saddlebreeds but there is also, a different appaloosa from the same year, in a more static pose that uses a different mold and was only available in a set of horses if I am not wrong. I'll reply to you better later, though, meanwhile, maybe Susanne can reply to you better. |

| After looking at the auction photo and the photo of the Saddlebred stallion and the Palomino mare I am just about convinced that my new Appaloosa is on the Palomino mare mold. I wonder if it is possible that the Palomino mare mold was substituted at some point either purposely or by mistake since they look so much alike. When the package arrives it should be fairly simple to see if the mold I get is a mare or a stallion.
Thank you very much for the info! I wasn't sure what molds were used for the Appaloosa stallion and mare and I didn't know that a 4th Appaloosa from 1993 even existed, I would love to see a photo of one! |

| Thank you Suzanne! Looking at your wonderful photos I am now more confused than ever, the Appaloosa in my lot has the bent left hind leg like the Palomino mare but looks like it has more of a flagged tail like the Saddlebred stallion instead of the flipped tail on the Palomino. Given the dark background on the photo from the auction and the black tail I can't be 100% certain about the tail though. I also see that the pattern on my mystery mare is different, it is not the wild pintaloosa pattern but a rather straight forward blanket that begins in a straight line just in front of her hips with only white on her legs and a few brown spots on her rump, she has a black mane and tail. I I am taking the seller's word that she is marked Safari and 1993 on her belly. I will let you know more when my parcel arrives. I want to thank you again for the beautiful photos, they have helped me immensely and I really enjoyed getting to see them. |

| Catalogue pictures of Saddlebreed and Appaloosa families [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Newer Appaloosas from 1998 that you probably already know, you can see on TAI relevant variations in painting. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The Safari Appaloosa mare Susanne is showing, uses the same mold as Saddlebreed mare and regular Appaloosa mare, though that variation is only known from 1996 catalogue in a product called: Safari Farm Life Display with Figures nº 4551-23. Thus, it is marked 1993 once these figures are 1994 releases. Our friend [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] owns another variation of it. The Palomino Susanne is showing is marked 1994 and it is a 1995 release. it lived for a short time and I ignore that this mold was used as an Appaloosa. So I am really curious to see your figure! About Safari guide to collectors, I don't know it and since I am in this hobby that I see many collectors of Safari figures complaining about the lack of information about company's collections. That was one of the main reasons to we start Toy Animal Wiki project that is almost surely the best source we can find. So, if your new horse is not at the Wiki, I hope you provide us a picture. Working together is the only way we have to turn it as complete as possible. |

| I will be happy to provide photos of my Appy as soon as it arrives. Just getting my hands and eyes on it should answer a few questions. The links are broken on the catalog photos that you posted. I sure wish I could see them! I want to thank everyone for being so responsive and kind, you have really made me feel welcome here and I appreciate that more than you know. |

| Sorry for the double post but the catalog links just opened for me! The pattern on my mystery horse looks like the pattern on the horses in the catalog rather than the wild pintaloosa pattern on Susanne's horses. The horse that I bought clearly has a bent left hind leg that is cocked at the ankle. The tracking says that the package has been picked up but since the seller is in Washington state and I am in Georgia we are about as far apart as we can be in the continental US and to delay things more, the local weather forecaster is predicting an ice storm on Monday so I am not sure when my package will be delivered. I suppose that I am getting a lesson in patience. |
