| A new section on forum is open! It is for now called "Lists of species" until we find a better name. It is created as a sequence of Andreas @widdukind request and also to complement the fantastic researching work that some members share on forum as it is the recent case of Julie [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. Although it is apparently similar to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] section, it has some important differences. While SUY serves to show, from our collections, animals of a certain group, pose, color, etc. "List of species" will be split in several animal group topics but the goal is to list as many species as it is possible as long as there is, at least, one figure representing these species. Topics for breeds can also be included, why not a rabbit breeds topic? We don't need to have these figures in our collections, we only share what we know and all together build a useful index to everyone, especially those who collect based in animal diversity. It is a fact that Toy Animal Wiki is already a fantastic source but forum and Wiki are not made to invalidate each other but to be a complement of each other. Also, as it is easier to list and research than to upload and build the Wiki, one of the goals is that "Lists of species" is always a step forward to Toy Animal Wiki. It means that these topics will also be a useful tool to TAi editors. We can link the species on list to the respective pages on Toy Animal Wiki and add information of species not yet wikified or other replicas of a certain species that are not yet listed. We can even discuss dubious species identification and try to find the better match to an ambiguous figure. Pictures are obviously important and, when a non TAi editor allows it to be uploaded at the Wiki, just have to put a reference to it. To prevent to many topics at once that will get dead because we can't keep watching and participating in them all, the thread will be locked and, for now, periodically, maybe once a week, someone will be invited to open a topic. That person will be a kind of curator of that particular topic, keeping the list, on first post, updated as always as possible. Obviously, someone interested in opening and curating a certain topic, just let us know and we choose a date and discuss it to unlock the section to that member. Everyone can use this topic to give suggestions, show interest in opening a certain topic, etc. This thread will also be used to create a index of all topics of this section respecting their taxa. I hope everyone enjoy and participate! |

| I like this new 'list of species' a lot! Indeed an handy source for TAI, but also for collectors First I though this would replace TAI, but now I know this is a separate part and has more to do with STS and his members than TAI itself. The breach is now a lot closer for members to share info and photos about a certain specie, which is good for TAI as well Of course I want to open up a topic from a specie, but I don't want to be second as I have to see what is really the planning with a topic and what kind of information is needed _________________ ~Karin~

| What a wonderful idea! This could be really helpful for editing TAi I hope people will share all their species and figure knowledge here; thanks Andreas and Roger! If you ever need a Sirenian topic, I'd be happy to make one! The differences between manatees and dugongs are quite obviously, but for the sake of TAi and my own, it would be great to discover new figurines through this new forum section |

| Julie, of course the little sirenian topic will be yours! ... and Karin, a topic for Border collies is not exactly what we ment but you can open a topic to a certain group of dogs: herding, hounds, terriers, toy dogs, working, sporting and non sporting. A border collie is actually a herding and working dog, so these two groups can work together. Though, if you want instead a group of wild animals, just let me know. |

But I have no idea what kind of specie... Something that you like, collect and feel confortable about! I really need an expert with gastropods but I suspect they are not your cup of tea as they're not mine either. |

| I have a list of the species in my collection, which for all intents and purposes would be an arthropod species list for most anything in toy form ;-)
Posting the list would be easy, adding pics, even one of every species, would take time. I would probably break it up in several threads (Lepidoptera, Aranaea, Coleoptera, etc.). But I already have a 'checklist' handy. |

But I already have a 'checklist' handy. Blaine, surely this section was created to give a overview of some taxonomic groups, especially those less common in toy shape. Arthropods are surely your area and it would be great to have these lists. Just do it as it is better for you. I think that it is important that if you want to include non toy figures in that list, that you mention them. I will surely use these topics to add species on TAI once it will be easier than your big topic. |

| Hey guys,
Can we have a topic for all extinct animals, past and present? I've always wanted that. I have several prehistoric species in my collection, so that would be great.

Aschuck A list of all extinct species is unviable but there is always the chance of making a list of a certain group. All ceratopsians, for instance, or any other of your special likings. |

Aschuck My collection thread on the Dinosaur Toy Forum comes really close to this. Nearly 600 species! However, it does not include Cenozoic animals. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Dear Roger,
Well, since I haven't posted here in a long time, I thought I'd just put something. Here goes! Hey, I was just thinking, about extinct animals, well, what I meant is non dinosaur species. A good example of this would be a topic for prehistoric birds and mammals. Of course this is just a suggestion, so do with it what you will. Anyway, no real news from my side of the world, so if anything happens, I'll keep you informed.
Aschuck
P.S. Do you like my idea?

| I have an absolutely massive wishlist word document, approximately 50 pages long, dedicated to this exact thing (minus species that I already own). I would be happy to share my information, as it contains many figures not known about on the wiki or even not known about on this forum or the atf. _________________ Always looking for new species

| Dear Endogenylove,
Hey, does your list have any unknown AAA figures on it? I mean, any that us collectors don't already know about? In my collection, I have a few of these unknown AAA figures. One of these is a certain AAA lion who is NOT one of the ones on TAW. For, instead of sneaking or roaring, he's just standing, although he is about the same size as the roaring and sneaking models. Thanks for posting about your list! Can't wait to see it.
Thanks in advance,
Aschuck

| Anna, frankly, I created this section myself to meet the growing trend of so-called synoptic collectors and thus provide lists of species that exist in figurine form. However, this idea of mine turned out to be a real failure, largely due to my own fault. Often, ideas are good but they require several people working on them, and that is very difficult in a small village like ours. If for example Endogenylove opens a topic using that already worked list, it could surely be a bonus. I opened myself one for echinoderms and in a short time I got lost and gave up. |
