| I have been making a few plants as tests to see if I like them or not, so far I am happy with just about everything I have done this week. I set the new plants for my diorama on a 10 X 10 inch peice of foam and took a photo. I am going to make several of these same plants for Ana's diorama only bigger. The dead bamboo in the back of this set is only about 6 inches tall (which is at least 3 inches shorter then Ana's). I also don't like the grasses in the front of this photo, they look ok in the picture but when they are right in front of you not so much. These are bought from a French company and in the photo's from the website looked much better so I am not going to make or buy any more of these. Here is a photo of the set, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I like this method, I can plant grasses and add dirt to this piece of foam and just put it right on the diorama then blend the sides in so it is flush and fits right into place. This way I can make small scenes, add or remove pieces, even change the position on the base before I ever put it near the diorama. Right now I have to go out to the diorama with each peice, and keep moving it around until I am happy with where it is, but when I make a new peice I sometimes have to move a bunch of plants around to fit the new one in and it is very time consuming. This is also convenient if I send one to someone, I can just attach the base to the bottom of the box and send it off because all of the plants are attached to the foam base and wont fall off or move around and be damaged. |

By the way, is the French company Sylviasdd.com ? No, the name is ScaleRama, and I bought the sugarcane (I call it tall grass because it doesn't look like any real sugarcane I have seen growing in Florida or Hawaii) from Military Miniature Marehouse here in the USA. I might be wrong, I was looking and it might be a German company, I can't tell and there is no address to tell me but the home page is not in English. I still want to buy some things from Sylviasdd, com, but I like to make the trees and plants more then buy them. |

Everything in this diorama is for sale, the bigger ones that I am making are for Ana so I can't sell them, (they are not in this photo) and the tall grass up front is from ScaleRama but I really don't like it in person and it is fairly expensive, $9 plus shipping for 5 stems. If you want them they are for sale at the Miniature Military Warehouse. If anyone is interested in something like this I can make a small habitat for your favorite figure to live in, this one is pretty small, so it doesn't take up very much space on a shelf and it fits in a 12X12 inch box so it can be stored if you need the extra space. Amy, send me an email and we'll work something out. |
