I'm writing to tell you that I finally received my Safari ltd FLOWERS TOOB. They are lovely, aren't they? The pictures are ready to be added to Toy Animal Info (just don't forget to add "Pictures are courtesy of Valerie Lahaie"). I have now five Safari ltd toobs: Flowers, Trees, Whales and Dolphins, Prehistoric Sharks and Precambrian Life. Sorry for the weird angle of a few photos: the local Library computers have recently been re-programmed and I still have lots of trouble getting my way through the new programming. |

I want to thank you for taking pictures of your flowers toob. I think it is a very interesting subject for a toob. Flowers are among the most beautiful structures of Nature and they show how deep evolution was. I also have now a big puzzle regarding TAI. We only introduced recently plants, it was supposed to show trees or something like that. Now I don't know if the best way to list flowers is listing them directly in their plant page once they are a part of it.

A few years ago, I made researches about the flower plants of my home region. Just like I did for the trees, I picked up samples that I dried and put in my research. I also took a picture of each species and wrote the informations I found about each. Unfortunately, many of my pictures are bad: it took time before I discovered my old camera could only take pictures from subjects at a distance of at least three feet from the photographer...

How wondeful But if the pictures weren'd good, the exercize of doing it was enormously wonderful When I was a small child, we had a teacher who asked each of us to find five flowers during a weekend, and bring them to school. He told us stories about each flower...some were medicine, some had been subject to superstition, some were edible, and some were poisenous. It must be almost 60 years ago, and I still remember those flowers and where I collected them. As we moved a lot when I was a child, I have gone to many schools, and have forgotten most teachers, but THAT teacher stands out

I love these stories and I enjoy to know that some people cares with what is around. We spend often our lifes dreaming with what is far from us, with what we watch on tv and our Planet is generous to everyone and we can just enjoy things that are so close to us. I am also like that, I love my homeland, I remember several things from my youth, including, also, the place where I could find some flowers to give to my mother. Now that I live in Lisbon, I just adore all the trees of this big city, the hidden and incognite places, etc. Life is much better when we understand who we are.

Very exotic looking for me but very beautiful! I think they could belong to another planet with sawdust smell! I've found interesting to know that they belong to sunflower family and that they can be as high as 2 metters!

Ohhh! Wonderful flowers !!! We have wild chicory here also, there is one growing in my yard B ut I think they are "escaped, tame plants", as the roots were used to make artificial coffe during World War II, when there was no coffee to get - yuck !!! I think the pink flower is a garden flower here, - it has a funny smell, doesn't it ? Pretty little flowers on the last one, - it looks like miniture daisies Thankyou for the lovely photos !!!
