| K, You'll have to excuse me, since I'm fairly new to this forum. It just seemed like you want to have as many different species as possible. I am the same, I only collect the animals that I like and I think are the most realistic and most artistic! I think their are some nice older figures and some nice newer figures. As far as using the Britain's as an example as scale, is that as I always say, they could be all placed on the same shelf and look proportional for the most part,(because I like displaying all of mine together). You said making a smaller mandrill similar to their tube set size might be to small for children, well aren't the tube sets geared towards kids anyway, so why not make a smaller mandrill(about the size of the Papo chimp w/baby on back, I would have been happy with that size)? As far as waiting, well I'm young but not that young, so I'll just have to wait... |

You are very welcome Balti, this forum is also a place where collectors can discuss, even hardly, with respect and real camaraderie. - baltimore zoo wrote:

I agree with the Britains scale of course, it was also nearly the same with the old Lineol and the Hausser 54mm. When I began my collection I searched for the "1/32 scale"of my youth, then I discovered the pre WWII lead productions and I felt in love, then I discovered the German composition animals, they were nearly "1/20" but I felt in love again. Then I discovered the fantastic japanese brands which are "1/Kaiyodo scale" and I... Then I collected some Papo, some Schleich which are "1/Paschleipo scale", and I bought my first Safari Ltd which are "1/everything" scale. I love so much different things that I can't choose a scale... And I'm happier now like that. For example, I love very much the Bandaï 5cm orang-utan and the BIG Wildlife Wonders Orang-utan. I don't want to choose between them. But ok, on display I try sometimes to create "in scale" shelves : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - baltimore zoo wrote:

for children, well aren't the tube sets geared towards kids anyway, so why not make a smaller mandrill(about the size of the Papo chimp w/baby on back, I would have been happy with that size)? I didn't want to say that. My point is it's not the same thing for a company to sell a 5€ medium size mandrill or a 15€ "10 Monkeys" tube. I'm not talking about my own choice but about what I think of the companies choices. When you make such a lonely mandrill, you need to make it hughe enough to lure children and parents eyes and to sell it at a bigger price. That's maybe why elephants are often so small, they would be too expensive at 1/20. - baltimore zoo wrote:

A long time I guess. Seriously, I don't believe Papo or Schleich will make this kind of stuff. Maybe one day Bullyland, maybe Safari Ltd... But even not sure

There is no doubt, - he is (also) on the crowded top of my papo-wish-list Well, it's No.1 at my Papo wish-list too, but I must admit that on official photos it looks much better than in real life.... - SUSANNE wrote:

Agree! - Sergey wrote:

Wow, Christophe, your shelves look just awesome! Real treat to the eye + very good scale setting. _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog

| Hmm, I like the model alot, but I´m a little dissapointed about the colours. I think they look a bit odd But hopefully it will look better when it´s in my hand. I´m definetly buying it someday |

| I can't get good pictures without the flash and flash makes colors different than they are. I'll try to picture it tomorrow, I'll take him outside to get real light... _________________ Robert

| Just wanted to add one more thing about "scale", since I was a local Target store tonight, and saw their Schleich display, and saw(in person) the 2010' #14625 Raccoon cubs(3 babies mounted on a stand - about an 1" tall x 4 1/4" long). The smaller scale's good, so it's a good alternative if companies are worried about making a small figure(s), they can mount them to a base.
