Thanks for sharing these news from Japan with us! It seems everyone here is distracted with new Safari for 2017. I love the Komodo dragon really and I know from other boards how addicted you are in salamanders so I understand your enthusiasm. I know the company is Japanese but as those are very large figures, they could easily do a Chinese giant salamander instead. Easy to say but probably not suitable for Japanese market anyway. The previous ones we already knew them from another topic but it is always good to see them again.

Tsuchinoko is a mythological animal from japanese culture. It is the "Child of the Hammer". This snake is said to have the ability to speak, with a propension to lying. Yet its most formidable feature is its ability to jump long distances, by Rolling itself into a circle, then detending suddenly like a spring.

Thanks Blaine for uploading these pictures here! I find the T-rex quite uninteresting but both arthropods look really nice. Although the crab is the most interesting species, the scorpion is very impressive.

Those pics might represent the Mega Sofubi like, which are technically different then the Sofubi Toy Box line (but that's OK for here--just pointing it out). Nice animals, don't see arthropods among them yet.

Very beautiful things on offer here. I would be creeped out by that woodlouse (?) though.

| I'm only first seeing the book images here and now and indeed those figures--as they include the blue whale and triceratops already released--are separate from the more toylike ones shown above.
Does anyone know anything about these figures yet?
I just asked my source and will update with any information. Though I'm not interested in the toys, certainly I'd want to own a good number of those figures in the book.
This might also (and well) explain the lack of miniature animals this past year.

Are we sure these are new releases? All of these were previously released by Kaiyodo in various series, like the Aqualand sea life and the Dinoland dinosaurs. Is this catalog really showing new releases or is it showcasing past releases? I notice beside the warthog it says 1991. Perhaps it is just a showcase for previous releases?
