The one up front is especially intriguing. Anthracothere? Coryphodon?

Great to see, thanks for showing! Also on the Colorata website:https://www.colorata.com/fs/colorata/figurebox_nl6

I wouldn't be surprised if they also release a Japanese fish box at some point.

Those are nice, but not as good as the 'Colorata of Old'. The only one I think I want is the Tsushima leopard cat, which interestingly enough is the same species as the Iriomote cat, just different subspecies. Still, recognizing different subspecies makes them worth going after (but I am going to stick with the Iriomote cat already in my collection, the Kaiyodo Natural Treasures of Japan figure).

Same with the Amami rabbit... I have the animatales and it seems better, and I know there are other versions as well

Oh my Gosh!
Colorata is killing it again, one day they will make me poor.
I have to agree with Blaine, some of their newer models seem to be more toyish. And most of the species I have, too. But it would be perfect to replace some Kaiyodo (as I normally don´t collect "plug-in figurines) and to get some subspecies.

As always, I don´t need the whole set, making purchases very difficult.

So I like these figures and I think that considering species, subspecies and breeds, I don't have any of them in my collection once I traditionally do not collect Kaiyodo. Was it a set more affordable and I'd surely want it.

PostSubject: Re: News about Colorata   News about Colorata - Page 5 EmptySat Sep 19, 2020 10:14 am

Just read on wiki about the leopard cat study The status of their subspecies as the Iriomote Cat already often changed. In 2017, they etablished this taxonomy:

following a revision of Felidae taxonomy in 2017, two leopard cat species are now recognised, based on molecular analyses, morphological differences, and biogeographic separation:

- the mainland leopard cat (P. bengalensis) is widely distributed on mainland Asia, from Pakistan to Southeast Asia, China, and the Russian Far East.
- the Sunda leopard cat (P. javanensis) is native to Java, Bali, Borneo, Sumatra, Palawan, Negros, Cebu, Panay, and possibly the Malay Peninsula.

Two mainland leopard cat subspecies are currently recognised:

- P. b. bengalensis (Kerr, 1792) ranges in South and East Asia, from Pakistan to China, and probably the Malay Peninsula; and
- P. b. euptilura (Elliott, 1871) is native to the Russian Far East, Manchuria, Korea, Taiwan, Iriomote and Tsushima Islands.

So for the moment, the iriomote and the Tsushima leopard cat are island variations from P. b. euptilura
