| Thank you for the pics No doubt it is a Safari Ltd, interresting pose, realistic sculpture and... Where is the painter? The job isn't finished |

| I like it! It's a nice ox in action. Love the flow of the hair. - Kikimalou wrote:

Looking at other pictures floating around on the internet, I think the painter tried to achieve a "snowy weather effect" on the head and fur coat. Maybe that's why it looks not finished to you? |

| No Simone, it looks not finished for me because Safari Ltd sculpts are often finely detailed and too simply painted, for example balck are often... Only black. For the musk ox I think that the hairs are should be better painted and not brown painting layer on brown painting layer. I may be wrong though, only seeing it from pics. |

| Ah yes, I understand. A nice finishing dark wash of paint would definately have brought out a lot more detail. But maybe the flash of the camera makes the ox look a little bland? I guess we will have to see more pictures to be sure. But I'm afraid you're right. Safari ltd. paint work on figures tend to be very simplistic. |

| Thank you all. I think this is one of the better paintings from Safari and he looks better, than the Schleich one. (No surprise, the Schleich OX is from 2004, this are 14 years of difference) |

| Yes Safari was going for a snowy look with this figure. |

| Very nice! I'm glad you could get him photographed so quickly. He seems to be a very large and impressive figure overall. |

| First, thanks for showing to us some pictures of this recently released figure. Then, I want you to know that I resized your pictures to give a more confortable experience to the watchers. This year, something interesting is happening with me regarding new Safari releases. They look quite strange to me the first time I see them and then, I start liking them more and more. My favorite songs, I disliked them the first time I've listened to. Several meritorious points in that figure: It is very well sculpted, it is not easy to capture correctly a muskox in motion, the long ahirs in movement give to it some apparently strange shapes. Then, that pose makes it, in any way, not a kind of repitition of what was already done before. Ignoring the simple Authentics figure, it is the first time we see the species in their regular series. For now the negative points are that I personally don't like the painting and I also am not an enthusiast of the snowy effect, even if I consider it a nice idea. |

| Having seen the figure in person, I think it is excellent, exactly what I would hope for from a Safari version. It has a realistic sense of motion and nice fur sculpting. The brown color has enough variation/depth to it in my opinion. As Susanne pointed out, the lighter parts are just an accurate depiction of the coat colors- the back always appears to be lighter, and often the shoulder hump (that part maybe has variation based on shedding). The paint around the eyes/mouth/horn tips could be slightly more subtle but still look fine (the black horn tips would look better if they were pointier, but that is the usual safety issue). Great overall. _________________ - Andy

| Congratulations ! And thanks for the pics !! it is definitely a classic figure no doubt , I have always loved the so called simplistic painting of safari ltd, though the prehistoric line of recent years are more refinely painted .... a Musk Ox has been long due after the schleich figure and this Musk Ox doesn't just stand there it seems to have a story to tell in its run on a frozen day!! Can't wait to get it myself |
