COLLECTA 2018: WILDLIFE - Common Zebra remake (88830)

So here it is, a remake of the common zebra (modelled on the Grant's Zebra species).  I tried to get the name changed but for the purposes of general marketing around the world it has been calld Common zebra. The current range is being reviewed so expect to see remakes of existing models in future years and this is the first of two wildlife mammal remakes for 2018.

Personally I love the pose and the sculpting as well as the painting.   I did try to persuade them with the idea of a Mountain Zebra or Burchell's zebra but they would have lookd too different and so this was chosen to satisfy a number of key CollectA suppliers.  I love it!

CollectA's Common Zebra was in need of a proper make-over. The updated model shows a new pose with the head straight and upright. The physical appearance and body proportions are more realistic.

I like it so much!. The previous zebra had a very strange and unnatural form.

Wow! Great Zebra. It looks very good - a must have for me.

It's a really nice zebra, though I would have preferred a Chapman subspecies. I know the duller black stripes in the blank spaces would be more difficult to paint, but anyway it would have made this model even more special and unique among other common zebras made by other brands. But I'm happy with it, and will surely get it.

It has definitley much better stripes and an much more accurate head, but I would have prefered a Grevy's mare, as I don't think that a lot of children can notice a diference. Maybe it's just the perspective but these legs look really short.

Updated remakes of older models is not a bad idea to me.It always works out great for dinosaurs,so why not modern animals too?

Nothing new but it is a very nice model, I agree some old models need to let there place to more realistic newcomers. This one is a hit

From what I can see from this angle, proportions look correct, good balance and good legs. I am not seeing dewclaws, right?
Striping is also very good, I like even broader black strips on rump but that's just a personal taste. Zebras are black, not white. I am curious to see it from other angles to see how flanks are sculpted.
Obviously it is good that CollectA update some of the earlier products. mainly those that are key products and important to keep some commercial balance. The problem is when new releases are almost all composed of updated products what is never the case with CollectA. When an update of the red fox?

To be fair with Schleich, I think the German brand had provided us some good zebras. Probably, for a long time, the best among major brands. I'd say instead... look Papo!

Such a huge improvement from the first model. Love the pose and paint job.

I suppose Karin was referring to Schleich's new zebra model, which is less realistic than the previous family of zebras they had for years.

awesome!. i have the collecta grevy's zebra, which makes the schleich grant's zebra look too small next to it; now this new one it's gonna look perfect next to grevy's.

Wow!!! I love it! I thought Debra will sculp new zebra one day but this one is amazing!

It was about time that Collecta replaced the old zebra which had a baby zebra though.
I wonder if the third hoofed animal that we are waiting for is a new zebra baby?

Maybe, I have no opinion about the new Schleich zebra yet, however, I doubt it will be worse than Papos.

He's a bit parrot-beaked which bothers me a bit, hopefully it's not as obvious on the actual model. Nonetheless I'll be getting one anyway I cannot complain about another zebra!
