| Hi friends! I'm opening our new SUY topic and it's about wild horses and feral horses! Thank you for voting for this topic! I hope to see some lovely horses from your collections! A small introduction to our subject will be welcome I think I used Wikipedia for most information, here is the link if you like to read more: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] The only true wild horse in current times is Przewalski horse. It's a subspecies of a horse and its scientific name is Equus ferus przewalski. The other wild horse, tarpan was gone extinct in early XX century. Some feral horses are sometimes also referred to as wild but they are actually descendants of domesticated animals. The best-known examples are mustangs but I want to include a little list of other examples below (this is not a full list, just examples) : -Brumby - Australian feral horses -Garrano- a feral horse native to Portugal -Chincoteague pony - on Assateague Island off the coasts of Virginia and Maryland -Misaki horse-Japan -Sorraia-native to Southern Portugal -Sable Island horse-found on an island off the coast of Nova Scotia There is also a group of semi-feral horses which I would like to include in this topic. (again, source-Wikipedia) A semi-feral means that animal lives predominantly in a feral state, but has some contact and/or experience with humans. Examples: -Camargue horse -Dartmoor pony -Exmoor pony -Konik -Heck horse -New Forest pony Here is my little collection! Unfortunately, my only model of Przewalski horse (Schleich) stayed in my parents' house in Poland. But I have some mustangs and others Of course, please show us wild and feral (and semi-feral) horse models from your collection! I would LOVE to see them Here my group all together [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The two bigger ones are from Breyer, scale 1/12, Classic size. The mustang mare, I call her Rhymphaxa. Her color was described as Silver Bay, her mane and tail is painted with pearlescent paint. I like that effect and most of all, I love the form of her tail. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mustang stallion, custom Breyer Classic, customized and painted by Dark Pegasus studio. It's a nice blue roan stallion The prototype of this model was sculpted by Maureen Love for Breyer. I love the soft lines this sculptress used in her works, beautiful style. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And here my smaller scale models, together: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]CollectA mare repainted by Nikola Behr, the model originally was a representation of Camargue horse, but with the changed paintwork I consider it a mustang. I love the color, it's a beautiful red dun with overo (I think?) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Probably a favorite piece from my collection or one of the favorites, Sarah's Minkiewicz AR model Goblin. Painted by Dark Pegasus studio. The color was my idea, it's silver with tobiano markings, Aleksander painted it beautifully In my collection, this model represents a mustang and I call him Bumblebee. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And the last piece is an Exmoor pony. It started as a Fjord model sculpted by our Noemi. I changed the mane and some details and I painted the model in color that hopefully resembles Exmoor ponies color. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And that's it for me! I hope to add more to this collection in future. And most of all, I hope to see examples from many other collections _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Anna, I also have my Przewalski horse from Schleich quite far from me and at the moment I haven't anything with me that I could show here. Though, I want to thank your wonderful presentation with a very informative text and superb pictures! A really excellent topic you opened here and thanks for your references to the Portuguese horses. |

| Here are some of my wild/Feral horses I wanted to take outdoors photos, but the sun is so unusually sharp, there was no contrast in the pictures So the pictures are made in early dusk, - not the best, but I hope y'all think they are ok [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This wonderful Konik is made by Agata [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The amazing, large mustang, which Numaan gave to me [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]CollectA Przewalski horse. Very brave of them to choose this pose. Quite an unusual model so unlike the catwalk horses, that CollectA mainly prefers [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The stylished Przewalski from Safari : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And beautyful, good, old Schleich Przey [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Thank you for sharing, dear Susanne! Your collection is amazing! I love the Collecta mustang, it's such a great sculpture and the paintwork is really nice too! I really like the good old Schleich Przewalski, for me, it's still the most appealing Przewalski model in this scale (and material). Collecta has a very nice dynamic pose though. It's great to see them all in one photo! And, you have a handmade model of Konik! Wonderful! It's adorable _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Thank you for sharing photos! Very nice models too! Although the zonkeys and zorses are kept in captivity they can look quite a lot like wild equines _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Here are my wild and feral horse models. Names in brackets are just what my individual models are called, nothing to do with their brand release or sculpt) Starting with the takhi or przewalski's horse, of course... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Schleich (for a really long while this was my single takhi model, and I got so used to calling him 'the takhi' cos he was the only one in my collection, that stuck as his name, so now he's Harecroft Takhi ) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Safari (Zerleg Salkhi) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]CollectA (Hangal Hulan) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This one doesn't quite fit in here, as he isn't a toy figure but rather a resin model, but it didn't seem fair to leave him out. The sculpt by Tibbi Searcher is called 'Primitive Nature', and I named mine Tengui Cinar Now for some feral breeds [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Breyer Sable Island Horse (Stella Maris) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Breyer Misty and Stormy, easily the most famous Chincoteague ponies in the world! (Bumblebee and Bee's Knees) I have a lot of mustangs, too, but I don't want to spam the forum with far too many images (and cause a scrolling period so very long you're all sick of the sight of horse shaped objects by the time you've got through it all) by posting each one individually, I'll try to arrange some new photos so they can be condensed into groups by brand, scale, and customs Here's a sneak preview, two of my custom painted Breyer Stablemates who happened to have their picture taken together already... | Stunning horses! The mustangs' hair looks very real. How do you come up with all the names, what inspires them? |
