My favourites are probably the Mojo pair, the Julip one wearing her 'beach donkey' style homemade bridle, and the final Magpie on the list, but I do love all my donkeys - they all have names!

That draft like pinto donkey from Breyer is particularly unusual, an impressive American mammoth!

Ahh, the pinto is made by Julip, I put my captions below the pictures out of habit - is it more normal to put them above on this forum? I'll swap if it makes things clearer

Julips are 1/12th scale, about the same as Breyer Classic or ordinary dolls' house scale, so they're not overly huge, the donkey measures 4.5 inches to the ears and her name is Merriweather

I'm glad you're all pleased to see my donkey herd. Some of them are lookalikes of donkeys I used to look after at work (both the non-pinto Julips, the dark Magpie).

Magpie models are hollow hard plastic. They'd been made in England since the 1980s, going out of action in the late 2000s due to owner retiring and selling the company to someone who never did anything with it, but now with a new owner in Scotland who's brought them back onto the market. There's three kinds of Magpie to collect : 'Personalities' which are special colour limited runs with names, regular runs which were sold in a limited range of less detailed colours, and collector-finished models where you can buy blank shells and add your own detail, markings, and hair.
They've been made in six moulds - Hunter, Arabian, Welsh pony, Shetland pony, Foal, and Donkey. Currently only the Hunter, Arabian and Welsh are sold as shells, and there's no regular runs being made, but they do come up for sale second hand fairly often if anyone's trying to start a collection - but beware, the donkeys can get very expensive there, the record is £131!
