| This bear came in a thrift store lot. It rather confuses me; the paint job looks old fashioned and the material feels funny. It does have a very tiny "Made in China" on its fanny though, so it can't be that old. Any ideas? It would like to have a new home if you like it. Make an offer. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I think it's the eyes that make it look old fashioned, though the paint is like a glossy enamel not what you usually see. | Tadadaaaaa, *DutchBear to the rescue It s the New-Ray polarbear just without the base [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I have never seen a loose standing figure. Maybe it was cut off of its base. I have two with base, with slightly different shades of paint. And one model the plastic is a bit softer than the other. Bear Hugs from Amsterdam. So it could be a knock off? |

| Looks like it was repainted to represent a black or brown bear, but the longer neck does suggest a polar bear. |

| If you look at the bottom of the feet, maybe you can see if it has been cut off. The New-Ray brand stamp is on the bottom of the base. This weekend i can check if mine have the made-in-china mark and maybe measure the size. |

| Sorry I just saw this! Thanks Dutch Bear for the info!
Andreas, I think maybe you are right. My figure looks almost just like the bear in the TAI link, but there are subtle differences besides the paint job. And a few details are softer, so maybe a mold off the original and a slight resculpting?
I agree it looks like a polar bear, Blaine, with the long neck and head shape. Its feet do not look like it was removed from a base, they are smooth with only slight mold/pour lines, and painted smooth and even in the same flesh tone as elsewhere on the paws and muzzle. It has no difficulty standing up. It is painted dark grey. The nose isn't molded on, the whole muzzle is softened. |
