What is your interest in a set of Cretaceous Fishes? | I love them and price doesn't matter! | | 21% | [ 4 ] | I am interested, but price is a major consideration | | 11% | [ 2 ] | I am interested, but shipping outside of North America is an issue | | 16% | [ 3 ] | Maybe, but I'd rather pick and choose figures instead of getting a whole set. | So as you may be aware, my store is kind of shrinking down to a few things, mainly some fish, and other things sculpted by @brandem Recently, the Protosphyraena was added [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Now we have a plan for something...bigger. I haven't made a secret of my fondness for weird prehistoric fish. And one of the most interesting places for those are the Kem Kem and Bahariya localities, with so many cool fish, just waiting to be eaten by spinosaurs and crocs. So we though that a set of fish figures from the time and place would probably be a cool idea. One that roughly scales them near the sizes of the most common/popular figures currently out (the CollectA, Safari, Schleich, Favorite, etc). Knowing, of course, that they're all a little different in size and scale. So since we are thinking big for this one...we want to know people's opinions. We are thinking four of the larger fish (Mawsonia, Bawitius, Retodus and Concavotectu, maybe Lepidotes--fish that, at about 1:40, would still be big enough! But then, we want them on bases, potentially ones that fit together but not in a specific way, maybe allowing for interaction with at least some of the Spinosaurus models (and maybe including small sculpts of some of the smaller fishes that aren't big enough to stand alone. But of course price is an issue. We would probably want to do them as a set. A normal Obscurus figure, like the Protoshpyraena or Asilisaurus, is sold on my site for about $20-$22 CDN; Brandon estimates that with four models, it would be a set that costs about $55 (I'm guessing he's thinking in USD, so about $75 CDN. Is this reasonable? Do other people have suggestions for species or presentation? And is a Bahariya/KemKem set something people would want? They are of course hand crafted so the individual runs can be small, but I am curious about people's interest. Please tag me in responses! I set up a poll...maybe it will work! It is asking about interest, and also bases...multiple choice is allowed! _________________ I used to have an online store, but now it's a Blog exploring the variety in my collection! | I think $55 for a set of 4 sounds pretty reasonable. Goulmimichthys or Ceratodus might be fun additions? _________________ Where I try to find the best figure of every species: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| I love Spinosaurus and would interested in buying fish species from that era and locality. Price is of course an issue but I would just have to budget them and get them a little after initial release.
I have a humble interest in fishes the last couple of years. If you could do a series on sturgeon or lobe finned fishes I'd be interested in them as well.
That's just my two cents, I wish you the best of luck in this project! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. Is Goulmimichthys from the appropriate locale? And I think we went with Retodus just because... it's different sounding? Ceratodus looks a lot like Neoceratodus, and there's lots of those! _________________ I used to have an online store, but now it's a Blog exploring the variety in my collection! That's just my two cents, I wish you the best of luck in this project! Thanks! There will be some lobefins with this set! If you mean modern ones, I did have a few in the original FFF series, but we're moving on now. Or at least, for now! I think we'll revisit them again. _________________ I used to have an online store, but now it's a Blog exploring the variety in my collection! | Any lobefins are welcome to me! A shame, I missed the ones you already did. Unrelated suggestion, but prehistoric sharks might be a neat set as well. The adaptations of some species make them an interesting group to me.
I encourage your new kem kem/bahariya set though. I look forward to it. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. I encourage your new kem kem/bahariya set though. I look forward to it. Thanks. It might take a while. It's several species and a bit of planning, but we'll get there. The Polypterus got made, and the Protosphyraena! And it's possible that the molds still exist for the African or American lungfish. If so, it might be possible to have a few made (we just did that with a paddlefish for someone!) _________________ I used to have an online store, but now it's a Blog exploring the variety in my collection! | Where have I been? You guys made a paddle fish as well? Prehistoric fish are simply fascinating to me. If you were able to I'd be interested in some copies of what you mentioned (PM me any details such as price if you decide to make new copies). Thanks for the info! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. I'll see what I can do! The whole series is here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The butterfly fish molds didn't last though. I know that for sure! _________________ I used to have an online store, but now it's a Blog exploring the variety in my collection! A fairly light resin, yes. They'd be models/high end toys! _________________ I used to have an online store, but now it's a Blog exploring the variety in my collection! | Maybe that paddlefish should make a repeat appearance! He's neat.
I already voted, but my 2nd cents' worth is that interlocking bases can be kind of neat, as long as they aren't required to interlock for support and that they can display all right on their own. |
