Vixy - Fox Female

Vixy is a beautiful female fox living in the woods by the stables. There she has a denn where he is save from prying eyes.
From time to time the riders see her run around when they are out in the woods. She isn’t exactly afraid of the horses, but doesn’t fancy coming close when they are on her terrain.
She does come to the stables on his own accord, scaring the crap out of the chickens in her attempts to bring one back to her denn. The dogs scare her off before he can dig herself a tunnel into the chicken coop, though.
Vixy has a mate, Reinarde, and one or more cubs, under which at least Todd.


Vixy is a sly and charming animal. A fox, living in the woods and sneaking around in the dark. She acts only in her own best interest, or of that of her family or sometimes her friends. She can be quite sociable to other animals, but her unyielding and rather selfish nature can be very off putting to others.
She mated to Reinarde and she is mother to at least one kit named Todd.

Vriend Frits - Parasaurolophus

Vriend Frits is a gentle and sociable beast from the Backlands. He is a herbivorous beast, and befriended with almost every other herbivores there.
He is an easy going creature, who usually spends his time eating or digesting. He is not very quick of wit, but can certainly outrun a carnivore. He prefers to spend his time in the shallows, grazing on grass or seaweeds.
He is very musical, trumpeting with his headcrest. A lot of the other herbivores there love when he does that and gather around to listen to him.

I didn't know Bremen existed during the Cretaceous and that Vriend Frits was one of the musiciens.

Wanda - Knabstrupper Yearling Mare

Wanda is an energetic and curious Knabstrupper yearling mare. Her training her only just started, but she proves to be a very eager student. She loves a challenge and it is evident she quickly gets bored of tricks she already mastered. This is an interesting task for the stablehands and they are all very happy to work with her.
In the meadow, Wanda socialises with many other foals and yearlings and even with some adult horses. Her best friend is Emily, but she also socialises well with Tycen and Aiyoni.
Wanda’s parents are Astijger and Kitty. She has one younger brother, who is named Linke.


Wanda is a member of the herd of the sextuplets. She is a yearling mare. She is already very independent of her mother and usually she does her own little thing. She is a polite yet energetic young mare and is well liked.
She is befriended with Ygritte and Ygraine. She is too young for suitors and a bit too old to tag along with her parents.
Wanda’s parents are Astijger and Kitty. She has one younger brother, who is named Linke.

Toshiko - Golden Labrador Female

Tosh is Alwin's Golden Labrador Retriever. She is a sociable, playful and hyperactive young dog. She comes with Alwin to the stables every single day. She loves to be around the stables to play with the other dogs and getting attention from the children and stableshands. She is very loyal to Alwin and always comes when he calls.


Toshiko belongs to Man beyond the Fog. She is a hunting dog, retrieving the fowl Man has taken down. She is well loved and well treated by Man, so she feels very loyal to them. She plays with the other dogs and startles the horses with her barks.

Weiss - Tiger Male

Weiss by the frozen city of Frostalgo. He is mostly nomadic, however. He is a strong hunter and a brave defender. He is very territorial and keeps the Fae and other beasts away. Only the black panther Nero can stay around him for longer.
Weiss has one sister named Blanca. He is uncle to Feli and Ritsuka. We suspect he is mated to Nero.

Wendy - Shetland Pony Mare

Wendy is a sweet and peppy Shetland Mare. She is stubborn, and also rather mischievous. She isn’t especially hard working though and loves to take it easy. Her biggest two passions are basking in the sun and eating snacks.
Wendy is available for the beginning riders. She is very docile and obeys the commands of the instructor very well. But if a child sits in the saddle the wrong way, she will tech them how to sit
Wendy has three sisters, Nestle, Sprinkles and Tinkerbell. They are all full blood siblings. With the now gelded Bilbo, Wendy has a colt named Jan.


Wendy is a member of the Sarnori Mountain Clan. She is a sweet and chatty mare. She is very sociable and has many a friend. Almost every member of the herd likes her. She is helpful and very loyal to her friends. But she also tends to be a bit nosey and can be a bit of a gossip.
She is mated to the stallion Bilbo, they have a colt named Jan. She has three sisters, Tinkerbell, Sprinkles and Nestle.

Horses in Therapy

There are also horses who themselves need therapy. These are horses that were rescued from abusive and neglectful situations and now have a safe home at our stables. They are closely monitored by the vet and the first and second stablehand.
Joost and Tinka both had special courses to be able to aptly monitor a horse’s behaviour and to put the horses at ease. They train with these horses every day and give them all the specific attention they need.

The horses in therapy of course don’t have to work for their stay. They stay in a restricted buidling, where only the stablehands come. Only if they are well socialised, they can go out in the meadow with other horses.
Some of the horses in therapy are sometimes taken out to ride, mostly in the arena, but only once this has been proven to be safe. If it is not safe, the horses are excersized in the treadmill or by lunge.

Amarai is a very unusual dragon. Not only because she is rather small, but also because she lives away from the mountains. She lives on the silver sand shores of the sea in our valley. She mostly basks in the sun or splashes in the shallow waters. She is very friendly to the merpeople, but rather fierce towards the fae.
With an unknown mate, Amarai has a hatchling named Poe. She is very protective of Poe. No one is allowed around the little thing.

Flipper - Fairy Dolphin Calf

Flipper is a domesticated dolphin, who is a companion animal of merpeople. He is very loyal to them. He is not a terribly clever animal and his mother raised him to be fearful of the wild beasts that live in the water. He is also told stays away from the Hypocampi and the Kelpie.
His parents are Dolpho and Dolly Fine. He has two siblings.

Kylo Ren - Arab Colt

Kylo is a sociable but misschivous Arab Colt. He is half a year old and a real Houdini. He knows exactly how to escape his mother's stables. He also helps his friends escape and likes to open the meadow gate. He causes a lot of trouble and gives the stablehands a hard time.
But he also loves attention. He can be very sweet, nuzzling up to the stablehands, his mother, his father or his friends. He loves playing with other foals. Kylo's best friends are Dante and Sebastian. But he also plays with Lyanna, Baelfire and Alessa a lot.
His parents are El Cid and Leia.


Kylo lives with Man beyond the Fog. He lives there with his parents El Cid and Leia. He makes them worry a lot. Kylo escapes often and runs away from Man. He knows what is on the other side of the Fog. He knows what lies in the amazing valley. He tries to hatch a plan to save his family and leave Man for ever.
Kylo’s aunts are Lalita, Anck-su-Namun, Fahride and Isis. His uncles are Sayid, Jondalar, Ordon and Alladin. His cousins are Zayn, Baelfire, Phoebe, Dante, Zack, Vergil, Calimero and David.
His closest playmate is Dante. But he also plays with Baelfire and Vergil.

Leia - Arab Mare

Leia is a rather arrogant and haughty Arabian mare. With her owner Angelica she comes out in dressage competitions, but she never places very high. She is more build for racing or parade, but Angelica won't have that.
Leia is a difficult mare that doesn't socialize well. She barely gets along with any of the other mares and wants nothing to do with stallions unless she is in season and now that she has a colt, she bites them all away anyway. In the meadow she is mostly placed with geldings. When Angelica isn't at the stables, it is Joost who has to handle her, because she needs a very firm hand.
With the stallion El Cid, she has a colt, named Kylo. She has four sisters, Anck-su-Namun, Fahride, Isis and Lalita.


Leia lives with Man beyond the Fog. She is a brood mare and is mostly left to her own devices. She is a bossy and haughty mare, who fancies to think she is in charge. Not everyone agrees with her on that.
She is mated to El Cid and as of now has a colt named Kylo by him. She has four sisters named Lalita, Isis, Fahride and Anck-su-Namun.

Poe - Baby Dragon

Poe is Amarai’s baby. He is already very developed and can do most things on his own, but that most certainly does not stop his mother fussying over him. He does not mind this and really enjoys the attention she bestows on him. Amarai does, however keep most other creatures away from him.
Poe loves to play in the shallow waters with the dolphin calves, they are his best friends.

Shelob - Ice Spider

Shelob is a monsterous ice spider, who spreads frostbite wherever she goes. She is affiliated with the beastlings and has not a shred of mercy in her frozen heart. She has made many a victim among those living in the valley.
She is destined to do battle with Barong.

Bulls and Cows

Mr. von den Perenbaum has several prize winning cows and bulls. They are brought out on special cattle shows yearly. They are Mr. von den Perenbaum’s pride and joy.
The stablehands are expected to not only care for the horses, but also for the cows and bulls. These animals are very accustomed to be handled and groomed, so this is not a big issue for them. The cows and bulls get groomed daily and get to graze in the meadow almost every day.

If there is a festival in the surrounding towns, some of the cows are displayed or decorated. They are all very resilient to crowds and usually keep calm even when a lot of children stand shouting around them.
The bulls are sometimes rented out to national festivals, where they are displayed.

The bulls also provide semen samples for sale. Calves of their blood walk all over the world.

Selene - Lewitzer Yearling Mare

Selene is an energetic and curious Lewitzer yearling mare. Her training her only just started, but she proves to be a very eager student. She loves a challenge and it is evident she quickly gets bored of tricks she already mastered. This is an interesting task for the stablehands and they are all very happy to work with her.
In the meadow, Selene socialises with many other foals and yearlings and even with some adult horses. Her best friend is Ygritte, but she also socialises well with Lincoln and Elia.
Selene was recently bought by the stables, her parents live in the south of the Netherlands.


Selene is a member of the herd of the sextuplets. She is a yearling mare. Her parents were both taken by the beastling. She is a polite and somber young mare and is well liked.
She is befriended with Wanda, Ygritte and Ygraine. She is too young for suitors and a bit too old to tag along with the fillies.

Whinney - Quarter Horse Mare

Whinney is an elder Quarter Horse Mare. She is very gentle and calm. Because of her patient and obedient nature, she is available for less experienced riders. They are even allowed to take her into the woods. But she does not ride out very often and usually spends her day in the meadow.
Whinney is originally trained in western disciplines, but wasn't all that shabby at racing. Her versatility makes her very useful for riding classes.
Whinney is sociable and open to any and all humans. She's a bit more selective with horses, not getting along with stallions. She is moderately tollerant to other animals, as long as they are not too loud.


Whinney is an older member of the Wild Herd. Together with Ranec and Goov she tried to advice Tyr and Ares, but the brash barely Stallion's barely heed her.
She is unmated and has no offspring. Her vastest friend is the stallion Goov.

Whispers - African Elephant Calf

Whispers is a young elephants calf. She and her parents and big brother and big sister, travel the plains and sometimes even the grassy hills. Whispers is rather shy and prefers to stay beside her mother. She most often holds her mothers tail with her trunk and trumpeting fun little songs. When she grows up, she wants to be as big as Thunderclap.
Her parents are Tantor and Uzumai. She has one big brother named Pasha and one little sister named Misha.

White Price - Welsh Pony Mare

White Price is a bit of an elderly Welsh B mare. She is sweet and calm, albeit a bit stubborn. Because of her age, she is a little frail. She only participates in two lessons or one forrest ride a day. And she gets three days of the week off.
She has no offspring, but is still fertile, so that can still come, because she has good genetics.


White Price is a Faebred mare. She lives in the royal stables. She is bonded with the Fae Oleana. To her, White Price is very loyal. She is like a second mother for the Fae youngling.
White Price is as of now unmated, but that may change in the future.

Maeve - Arab Mare

Maeve is an elderly arab broodmare. She is mostly retired and only takes a few rides around the woods per week, with riders who are well acquainted with the stables. Most of her time she is allowed to while away in the meadows, or if the weather is bad, in her very roomy stable.
With various stallions, Maeve has a number of daughters, among which Lalita, Anck-su-Namun, Isis, Fahride and Leia. This makes her grandmother to a lot of foals at the stables.
She is a very sociable old lady and she loves being around other horses as well as people. She mostly spends her time with the other elder horses and with her daughters.


Maeve lives with Man beyond the Fog. She used to be a broodmare, but now is more of a children’s pet. She spends most of her time in the meadow, but Man’s young children learn to ride on her.
Maeve has a number of daughters, among which Lalita, Anck-su-Namun, Isis, Fahride and Leia. This makes her grandmother to a lot of foals.

Neptunos - Kraken

Neptunos is the king of the inland sea in our valley. He is the leader of the Merfolk, even though he is not one of them. Neptunos is Kraken. He is strong and just and very protective over his people. He fights well against the Beastlings agents under the water’s surface.

New Arrival

The trailer backs up. “Tinka, come lend a hand!” Vet Lievenhart calls out. Tinka locks Icedust’s stable behind her. “I’ll be back in a bit, Dustie.” She says to the white stallion. She hurries over to the driveway.
Joost is there too. Tinka stands beside him. “Are these the horses Pieter has bought?” She asks. Joost nods. “They come from the US.” He says. The trailer pulls over and the engine is killed. Two broad gentlemen step out of the truck and open the back of the trailer. Joost and Tinka peek inside.

The two horses in the trailer are bay and golden champain. “Oh my days, look at these beauties.” Joost whispers. “Go on, get them out. According to the papers the bay is a stallion and the goldy is a mare.” Vet Lievenhart says. He doesn’t have to repeat themselves. Joost and Tinka go into the trailer and calmly approach the horses. Joost gently pats the bay stallion’s neck. “There boy. You are home now.” He says. The horse nickers and tries to smell at Joost’s coat.
Tinka strokes the mare’s nose. “Hello pretty one.” She cooes. She unbuckles the ropes that keep the mare in her spot. “Keep the bay calm Joost, I am going to back this pretty lady up.” She says. Joost makes sure the stallion is not in the way. Calmly Tinka leads the mare out of the trailer. Joost follows close behind with the stallion.

“Look at these beauties.” Vet Lievenhart says. “Stop em right here you two, I wana check them out.” He gestures. Joost and Tinka bring the two horses around. Vet Lievenhart inspects the horses for small injuries and looks at their teeth. “A Okay, put em to bed.” He says. “Alright.” Tinka says.
The horses ae lead to the new stable block. “Welcome home Pryde Skirra.” She puts the mare in her stable and takes off her halter. The horse shakes her head and paws at her straw. “And you too, Aspen.” Joost puts the stallion in his stable. The bay noses at Joost’s coat. “Hah, you must smell the peppermints.” He says. He pats the bay on his nose. “May later friend. Come on Tinka, we’ll leave them alone.” He gestures for Tinka to follow him out.

Maarten - Goose

Maarten is the resident goose of the stables. He is mostly socialized, but does not like to be touched or chased. Children are adviced to stay away from him, because he can be quite fierce.
Maarten is very defensive and will chase the horses, dogs and cats away from his hut. As long as they leave him in peace, he is no real trouble though.
He gets along well with the ducks and chickens though and will go out of his way to protect the chicks and ducklings from cats and dogs.


Maarten used to live with Man beyond the Fog, but flew away with the flock that summers at the valley.They stay at the valley during spring and summer and fly south after six moons, when it is warmer in the lands in the south.
He is sociable to everyone in the valley, but does not develop permanent friendships with any of them.
