| For the unyielding repetition, I'm more excited about the spider set.
But very glad the company is doing anything for us.
And I like the ally better than previous versions...
Thanks for posting, Dirk.

| Oooo that means four of the spider species are NEW and the jumping spider is NOT the one from the Sticky Tack set! |

| The skeletons are both Acrocanthosaurus. The other three (L-R) are Allosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, and Spinosaurus. This is just the most boring prehistoric set imaginable. _________________ Where I try to find the best figure of every species: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Agreed but I think the ally is the best Kaiyodo has done and the spino the only one I'd display since the firsts are scientifically outdated and I always found the Expo one very awkward.

Is this english name for this set known? I'd really like some of the ones from this set. |

| Dirk mentioned the two (dino, spider) sets will be released in December. This site indicated October. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]This site indicated April as a release date for the Kaiyodo caterpillar 4 set and then pushed it to May and then July. I assumed that was virus related, but it's done that before, I believe. Unless Dirk knows for certain, we'll have to wait and see... |

Unless Dirk knows for certain, we'll have to wait and see... Thanks for the information. My information comes from Chinese dealers, Japanese figures are usually listed in China 1 or 2 months later than Japan. |

I think it may be the relationship between the size of the figure, I will post the Kaiyodo dinosaurs series on the forum. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Thanks Dirk! I like the design of the spiders leaflet. Does it represents the size proportions between models? |

I think it should not be, the Japanese figures are not too particular about proportion. |

Hali... I'm very curious what you specifically mean by this? Especially with regard, for instance, to the set Dirk posted? These figures are more sophisticated--both sculpture and paint--than early Dinotales and the set features new species. Very curious what you don't like. |

Very curious what you don't like. He might be referring to taxonomic diversity. The dinos are all previously-made therapods. However, for the two arthropod sets, the five spiders represent 4 species that are all new for Kaiyodo and 3 species that are totally new in toy/figure form. The caterpillars offer 3 species new for Kaiyodo (well 2, but the Sasakia is the first for Kaiyodo in the larval stage), and 2 species totally new in toy/figure form. |

| I should have been more clear. I was referring to the Expo set--not the new CQ set--since even though his comment came before Dirk posted the image, he'd previously noted he hasn't liked any dinos Kaiyodo has produced for several years.
But point taken re: diversity. Extremely well taken. So well taken that when I'm bored I make (awesome...) fantasy lists of what I want to see the company make... |

| Yeah, I'm mostly talking about taxonomic diversity. The Expo set at least includes Deinocheirus and Kamuysaurus, and the 2019 CQ set had Borealopelta. So to be really fair I should acknowledge that some of the reason I haven't wanted any of their new ones in the last few years is that even the figures that aren't retreads of previously released taxa just don't align with my scale preferences. Some of my griping is based on the objective observation that they keep rehashing old sculpts, and some is based on my own persnickety preferences. I should probably be more careful to separate those two.
Now that I'm thinking about it, there are few things I'd like more than a set of prehistoric arthropods from Kaiyodo. The Encyclopedia of the Paleozoic set had a few, but of course they were all previously made taxa. _________________ Where I try to find the best figure of every species: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |
