| Certainly going to be an expensive year for Papo as I am getting every wild life and sea life except the tiger cub, young whale shark and grasshopper. _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ADAM [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Our planet is in crisis. | Those of you who live around, and are familiar with, the Papo 2020 Highland cattle, what are your opinions of it? I want to expand cattle breeds, but I will probably just new breeds as they are released. For example, I'll prob get the CollectA Tyrol grey cattle. But I am curious of the opinions on this Highland. Thanks |

I don`t know if you if you saw , when Susanne showed to us her Papo model ... it`s [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I personaly , wasn`t sure if I will get it ... but watching it with the time on Susanne`s photos, I think I like it more and more. My favorite is still the Anna`s one, made for Mojo :) (and it has a new, better colour now..) |

When I do Google searches of Highland cattle, to me the Papo one looks good. And that Advicot has them, and likes the figure, gives it more support. I may get it. The toy dealers I use in the US don't have it yet, but I think I might get it eventually. |

| In my personal opinion all the Highland cattle on the TAI (except for the CollectA) look very nice. The Papo figure is nice with lovely fur texturing but I have decided not to get her as I already have four Highlands.
The Safari is a good figure and is a bull, the Mojo is a heifer and she has such a sweet face, the Schleich family is gorgeous and a great representation of the breed and the CollectA are just outdated and quite ugly _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ADAM [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Our planet is in crisis. | My only Highland is the Britains model. Though, Mojö Fun figure is also my favourite among major brands. I love her graceful style. Though, for a breed representative, I think maybe the Papo model is a good option once it looks quite rudimentary. I am not sure Schleich models are that hard to find, I think they are very beautiful and I am with Adam. CollectA's are surely the least interesting of all although I am not a huge fan of Safari's model either. |

| Thanks all for your input. Schleich does seem nice. I really like the Papo one. Not crazy about CollectA, Safari, or Mojo. That is probably blasphemy on this forum, since Anna sculpted it, but the Mojo one does not grab me at all. I think I will prob get the Papo one once it becomes available in the US.
Maybe CollectA will re-do there, since it looks to be in their 'old style' before they really started dominating the bovid scene... |

| Highland cattle are quite common here (I live in Scotland). I saw a few today. I'd say that none of the Highland cattle on TAW look great, but the Schleichs may be the best ones and perhaps the Mojo is acceptable (just looking at the photos, I don't own them). MiniNature has made very realistic highland cows: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]This is exactly what they look like. You'd need to paint them, but on the other hand, highland cattle by most brands are painted in a simple way. |

| So, even though it is not available yet, I am seeing the Papo 2020 crab advertised as the dungeness crab. I wonder if this is an error in translation? Based on the promo pics, this is not a dungeness crab. More likely, an edible crab or something in the genus Cancer, proper. Just a heads-up. |

| I also thought it looked like an edible crab when photos came out last year, as some of my family members catch them for their seafood business _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ADAM [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Our planet is in crisis. | Random question... I know that Papo announced they were releasing a tiger cub playing last year... but I haven't seen it available anywhere. Does anyone know where to buy it? Hoping they didn't end up nixing it as it was so cute! |

| Oh yes I think they are delaying it until next year because of the virus, but don't worry it's still coming! |

| On Spielzueggunstig you can already see a few new releases. Apparently there will be an anaconda. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Or am I confused? Are these still supposed to be 2020 figures? I'm getting old.... |

| Seeing that Papo is releasing some 2020 announcend figures in 2021 (as they still aren´t available yet), I have the fear that we will not get many "real" newcomers for 2021... |

It's definitely an Edible Crab. |

| 2021 on Facebook I have seen a pic on Facebook now. I can see a robin, a canadian goose, a grey heron, a ant, a guinea pig, a caterpillar and a few more [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Yes, the lack of white on the flanks and chin should rule-out the great cormorant.
The Kaiyodo figure specifically shows breeding plumage of the Asian subspecies of great cormorant, P. c. sinensis (maybe P. c. hendae?).
So, it should be a new species for those of us with the Kaiyodo figure. Exactly! |

| It seems we don't have yet a definitive answer. I am only glad that despite we are far from a corroborant discussion, it never turned into a cormorant dispute. In any case, it is fantastic we can have a discussion about these creatures. |

I have changed my opinion on this. For my collection, I am considering it a non-breeding great cormorant, specifically the North Atlantic (P. carbo carbo) and the Kaiyodo figure as the Continental (P. carbo sinensis). |

| You have a point. Some individual figures do have prominent white throat pouches: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]But others do not: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]So I guess it depends on the individual figure’s paint job. |
