| Hello! Maybe some of you remember when I acquired the Science and Nature Aquila audax and already corrected some things: - Pardofelis wrote:
4. Another new brand for me: Science & Nature's wegde-tailed eagle (Aquila audax). There are two wegdies in the market, the other being the Southland's. But it's landing on a undetachable Australian Brown Snake, and I don't want figures with such kind of "accesories". Besides that, the open wings have toooooo wide points of feathers (for safety reasons). So I went with S&N figure. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It's overall a good figure. Colours are very realistic, and it's well shaped. Maybe the worst thing are the tertial/scapular feathers forming a species of "ladder" over the tail. Too symmetric, too well arranged. Of course, the bill and claws are very thick-rounded for safety reasons. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Of course I also retouched a bit this one. I painted more accurately the feathering over the cere of the bill, corrected both eyes (the right one sligthly over the correct place, the left one slightly under the correct place), sharpened the bill and painted black on the bill. I also deleted the unaesthetical white rays that pretend to imitate the canyons of the back feathers. I left the feet untouched. Probably, once I get the correct modelling clay, I will turn the current claws into toe tips and add sharp curved claws with the paste.

After: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
But today I casually was looking for images of wedge-tailed eagles in Google and that made me notice how badly painted is this model actually! So I took my brush, acrylics and tinfoil paper (that I use as palette), and with some mixes of brown, black, orange, yellow and white corrected it. Now I present you my wedgie with its new clothes: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/quote] _________________ My collection:- (Details):

| After your last retouch, it is already not easy to see it is a S&N model, even if the change is not dramatic. Obviously you improved it a lot with your ojo de águila muy audaz y el talento de tus manos. Just an observation about your comment of the Southlands eagle. I am surprised that being you Spanish, that you don't like the model because it has a snake attached. It has a very decent sculpting and painting quality, so I assume you don't like the style of these models. Ironically, it was traditional, among Spanish vintage brands, figures representing two animals fighting or interacting in any way. It was probably related with the dramatic style of the Spanish documentaries about wild life. I remember watching a few ones when I was a boy once I lived only 45 km from Spain and we could easily receive the Spanish tv broadcast signal. |

| Thanks everybody! Susanne, yes, both eye positions were corrected long time ago, but yesterday I also changed eye colour to a much darker one :) Roger, amazing to read such words (for those that don't understanding Spanish, "ojo de águila" means eagle eye, and "audaz" is a pun because of the scientific name of the eagle means that ( audax = brave and intelligent)) I like figures with accessories as decoration toys, and I like documentaries either dramatic or not as far as they're realistic and not sensationalistic. But not for my figure collection. For the same reason I dislike bases (I only have one figure with base), I dislike even more figures that are not just single representatives of the species for my "19th century style museum-like" collection. I don't want mothers with pups attached, not buffalos with an oxpecker in the back, not bears with a fish in the mouth. Not even herbivores with grass hanging in the mouth. If the prey species is detachable I may use it as a separate figure. Southlands eagle is magnific in sculpt and colours but I don't want any figure consisting in more than one species in my collection :) Caracal, yes, that's something that I can't do with SuperSculpey as it must be bakened, but if some day I get your famous WePam, then I will do that and many more things, from repair the broken bill of my grandala that fall to the flat, to add sharp points to the horns of of my buffalo, bison and gaur, and claws in the hands of Noce the red kangaroo. _________________ My collection:- (Details):

| Pardo, - thanks for the translation/explanation ! Yes, sometimes it is impossible to express what you mean in a foreign language - Pardofelis wrote:

I understand you perfectly. Which is also why I do not collect the wonderful Kitan Club models with "wood" bases. But unlike you, it is not a priciple, and and if a model is a natural part of my collection, I never give it a thought |

| I understand Isidro. I remember when I disliked all these things in models. I still have my own things. Well, our languages are quite close, these words in Portuguese language are águia and audaz. |
