Dear friends, the 8 finalists are ready for a contest. Those were your choices and we will run a poll for 7 days to choose the 2020 Land Invertebrate Figure of the Year

At the end of February 13th, we will announce the winner and on the next day, it will compete with all winners of all other categories in a final poll to determine the 2020 Animal Figure of the Yar!

The snail is the most pleasant to me.

All very close and still far from being decided! Let's continue voting, still a long time to the end of the poll.

I think the popularity of the snail is because 1) a lot of people on this forum shy away from insects and spiders and the snail offers a cute, familiar option and 2) Papo is a popular brand.

It dawned on me last night I forgot the Bandai Sprits Life with Insects figures in the original selections! Darn!!! The giant weta may have taken it all :)

This is the first Land invertebrate Figure contest on STS and what a suspense, what a surprise: Two winners !

So both models will enter the final poll and Blaine is happy once there is an arthropod to be voted.
It is a pity we don't have pictures of them.

Wonderful- two joint winners, and both amazing- Papo is doing very well this time!
One of the most fun parts of this contest is seeing the winners from all categories, it's so interesting to see what models are generally viewed as the best!

Finally a tie! I only can think that the two reasons mentioned by Blaine are what made the snail ranking so high, even when the hornet should be undoubtely the best figure made from all categories and all years ever.
The Kaiyodo spiders are also incredibly good, but the hornet is just more realistic than an alive hornet

Maybe particular collecting tastes (for example scale, articulation, presence of a base, liking for western vs japanese brands, etc) may have taken a role in people voting other than the hornet
