Susannes Papo of the day LOL : the 2004 and 2008 Foxhounds

Sorry that I flood the forum with my Papos. I have become completely smitten with Papos

Of course I had to get the greyhound when it came last year.
Another dog I liked was the Foxhound or beagle ( or farm-dog, as Papo calls it ).
So I got that one quite early also. Quite by chance I got one more a couple of days ago, - and was thrilled to see they are not paited in the same way

Further one is stamped 2004, and one 2008. As far as I can see they have the same item no, but unlike Schleich Papo changed the year when they changed the painting

If you study the catalogue, it looks like the old version (with brown ears) still comes with the giftboxes of horse and rider, has anyone got one of those giftboxes to compare ?

First I'm very glad to see the way you are collecting this fantastic brand, is nice to find something new, something unusual! Yes, the dogs are completly different... so you are collecting Papo variations! Still nicer know that they have different years! I don't remember if Kiki told us about his Papo hyenas variations! Maybe they have also different years???!!! Nice and funny dogs! Congratulations!

You are right, we saw there is a hyena-variant also.
Unfortunately it is very difficult to buy variants on the net, because the sellers do not know the difference. And no shops here have Papo, but I think if I wait long enough there will be nothing but the new variant in the e-shops

You are contributing hardly to the promotion of the brand as collectible article! :)

That was a great catch Susanne, interesting variation! it's a cute little dog, it doesn't look like a Beagle to me. Aren't the legs too long for that type of dog? Looks more like a a fox hound, but does that breed have a proper name, they're not pointers are they?

He looks a lot like a fox hound. I like them both very much! Congrats! :)

Yes I am also sure it is a foxhound.
In my book of dog breeds there are 2 kinds, - the American Foxhound (It was registered in the American Kennel Klub already in 1894) and the English Foxhound that has existed already from the 17th century.

The book also says that it is an extremely active dog and not really suitable as a house pet. Very. very few are registered in USA, as most puppies do not have a pedigree.

According to Wikipedia there are 4 kinds of foxhound.
