My whole collection in pics Empty
PostSubject: My whole collection in pics   My whole collection in pics EmptyMon 04 Jul 2011, 14:12

Once every year, I take out my whole collection, count and categorize them.

This year was not an exeption, and because my collection is pretty large, it took me over a week pale

But this time was slightly different, as I decided to get rid of some of them (mostley ugly made in china/hong kong, and china dublettes) I got rid of almost 1500 animals affraid

I also made new categories for them. Junk, ordinary, good and top 5.

Another thing that I havent done befor is that I took pics of al of them. Not in the boxes, but out on the table, side by side. It took forever and resulted in A LOT of pics (as my collection containes about 6000 animals)

So here they are, all of my animals in pics! (be warned again, it´s a lot of pics!!)
Al counts inklude dublettes, exept for the schleich dublettes, that have their own count.

Lets start from the bottom and work our way up Very Happy

Junk animals (crappy animals that doesnt look very good, but that I still cant get rid of)

Made in hong kong
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Farm - 515 animals
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Wild - 340 animals

The made in hong kong are mostly bad copies of the britains ltd, and I think I got rid of about 500 of them, but I still kept most of them. They are great kids toys, and I will save them for my future kids. And another thing that is good about them, is that they make great herds for smal dioramas (with a little new paint)

McDonalds, Kinder
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
94

Cartoonish animals if very hard plastic, that is not accurat in any way, but they have a sertain charm, thats why I´m not tossing al of them away. Often disney inspired (atleast the McD)

Ordinary animals (regular made in china. not to good looking, but not that bad eather)

Wild animals
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
214

Farm animals
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
214

Horses
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
77

Dogs, cats
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
296

Snakes, lizards
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
snakes - 79
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
lizards - 100

Turtles, frogs, croks and seals
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
140

Disney etc
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
117

Velour animals
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
90

Bugs, spiders
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
220

Whales, sharks (big)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
53

Marine life
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
whales, sharks (small) - 82

PostSubject: Re: My whole collection in pics   My whole collection in pics EmptyMon 04 Jul 2011, 14:38

Good ones (different brands, but also regular made in china that looks a little better)

Dinosaurs
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
150

Older animals (inkluding a few lineol/elastolin)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
112

Raisler and raisler-like animals
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
84

(Sorry Susanne, I know not al of these are raisler, but they al got that hard, shiny feeling, so I kept them in the same category Wink )

Britains ltd
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
133

New-ray
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
70

Top toy, funrise
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
top toy - 20, funrise - 35

It´s funny, the top toy animals I got are the only ones I´ve ever seen, anywhere scratch
they look okey, but has a serious lack of personality.

Funrise is maybe not the best brand when it comes to accurasy and cool looking animals, but they are special to me, as I got some of the horses from my dad when I was seven I love you

Chap mei
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
47

Realy cool and expressive animals with much detailes.

M.E.G, Topps
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
122

Not the most realistic animals, but when it comes to cutness and creativity, they take the price.

Farm animals
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
94

Horses
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
117

Dogs, cats
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
143

Wild animals
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
124

Minis
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
159

The only thing that these animals have in common is that they are realy small (and many of them realy cute/cool)

AAA
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
169

A very unstable brand. Some of their animals look realy wierd and almost a little crappy, while other look stunning. the biggest downside to this brand is that many of the animals are so BIG!

K&M international
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
72

Playvision
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And last but not least;

The top 5

Dinosaurs
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
55

CollectA
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
43

Still not even 50 of these Sad

Bullyland
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
185

Papo
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
107

My favorite brand when it comes to wild animals, But the worst of the top 5 when it comes to horses (collectA was worse befor, but since the 2011 arrivals, it´s now one of the best in my opinion)

Safari ltd
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
160

Great brand with lots of creativity and unusual species, but sometimes lack a little in the coloring, and is not great when it comes to sertain animals.

Schleich
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
ordinary - 519
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
sets - 11
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
classic, cute creatures, minis - 63
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
dublettes - 216

The big boss in europe, you can find them anywhere! In my opinion, the most balansed brand. They can sometimes be a little chubby and mostly have pretty dull poses, but they almost always look good.

Since schleich is one of my favorite brands, I cant help buying one if I find it cheap, even if I already got that one. This mean that I have pretty many dublettes Embarassed

Well, thats al of them, Just over 6000 animals (so far, I havent counted the ones I got last month yet) What a Face

Enyoy cheers

Ha ha, I´m glad you liked my collection, guys Very Happy

It took me many, many hours of work to take these pics.

The hardest was to get them to stand nicely next to each other. Some brands were easy, others...

Well, have you ever heard of the domino-effect Rolling Eyes

@Robert; I´m not sure they are different colors, but one is in great condition, and the other is pretty damaged, so that could be the differense in them Wink

@Widukind; Ye, I found the second one a few weeks ago in a flee market :) I like pv a lot, but the tamanduas are not one of my favorites. I love the wild canines (of course), but my favorites are the lizards/salamanders, especially the mudpuppy (the light blue/grey salamnder)

@Lucky luke; More like a few days Rolling Eyes But it was worth it! It feels great to have my whole collection, every single animal, in pics cheers

I get a tear in my eye when I see the "Relative Proportion" of the Britain's
figures! To bad they can't do it like that today : ( If the other companies made the figures in "Relative proportion" you would miss me complaining sooooooo much!

@Roger; Hmm, I dont think I have more than Torben. And even if I do, I only have more in numbers, not in quality Wink
It´s not only good to have many animals, they take up a lot of space and demand a lot of work pale But I love all of them Very Happy
It feels great if I can provide a little help and inspiration to new/future collectors, and it also feels good to be able to look at my collection without taking all of them out of the boxes all the time Laughing

@ Baltimore; I think Britains have a special place in many of our hearts, But I can somehow understand why many of todays brand are unwilling to work like them, when it comes to scale. It would mean that some animals would have to be extremly big, and other so smal that no children could play with them. But I guess if they put a little effort to it, they could figure it out, but I dont think that scale is the thing they care about most, unfortunetly.

@Susanne; Ye, I was ready to give up a coupple of times. Especially with the Made in Hong kong.
Everybody that has owned some of those know how hard it can be to get some of them to stand, especially the giraffes. And when one falls, everybody falls Evil or Very Mad

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The one to the left is made of soft, jelly-like material.

You are right! it takes a lot of space, I have a small 200 figures collection and I think it is to much! Anyway numbers are not important for me, I have 3 male adult elephants f. e. and I think I only need one! But is not easy to collect and select! :)
