| This stuff is getting ridiculous...what's next, Schleich salt and pepper shakers, Schleich scarves and Schleich label bottled beer?!?! Maybe the good people at Schleich could make a few more animal figurines for next year, instead. Then again, what wouldn't I give for a Schleich-licensed toilet seat..................... |

| I think it is not ridiculous. Every great factory have merchandising products. And in the past there was still many merchandising products from Schleich, like postcards, pendants, calendars and so on. Even there was playing cards from the smurfs from Schleich.
This playing cards are with photos from the new serie world of history
Have a look here and choose your country
You must be registrated and then you could get the playing cards at pdf for free download.
Or try it here for downloading them in german.
I have the cards in original. But they are the same cards. |

| From my visits to England it seems to me that anything of a more or less muddy/muddeled colour is called "dun" in British English The colour of that Quater horse surely must be "dun" in that way. I never saw a live horse of that colour |

Strawberry roan is chestnut + roan: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And light gray is... a light variant of gray Their bodies can be nearly white and mane can keeps a dark color: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I can´t see anything dun in the horse of this card... I see it light gray: http://schleich-s.com/heroes/der-gefuerchtete-nordmann/ (I´m sorry, I can´t put the image) _________________ Visit my collection gallery at http://sylobe.deviantart.com/gallery/26714361

| In fact I don´t know if you mean the one on the card...
The one on the card is similar to the light gray with dark mane, maybe the mane is a bit lighter, isn´t it? :) _________________ Visit my collection gallery at http://sylobe.deviantart.com/gallery/26714361

I was thinking about the one to the left here [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It is an old picture, because it is too dark to make photoes now, but you know which one I mean. Isn`t it a weird colour ? |

| Well Silvia I'm no pro on horse colours, to me he looked like a dun, but of course I'm probably wrong. This is mine http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_exC-GhDWWlU/TOJudpJf65I/AAAAAAAABc8/gGQSeXTw654/s1600/quarterhorsestalliondun.jpg I should have posted this horse and the palomino in the "Ugly Schleich" thread, I don't like the pose of either of these two _________________ Harriet My *Collection* My *Handmade Animal Sculpture*

| I have seen both lighter and darker versions of the Quarter Horse. Perhaps they are made in different countries ?
I wonder what merchandise will show up next :) |

| Mine is this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sylobe/3338454884/sizes/z/in/set-72157606676705993/ None of them (Susanne´s, Harriet´s and mine) are dun. Dun horses are linebacked, even if they are roan. Susanne, could you post some pics of yours? I like how dar is it, it seems to be a red roan instead of a strawberry roan :) Oh, and neither I like the pose of the QH or the palomino... _________________ Visit my collection gallery at http://sylobe.deviantart.com/gallery/26714361

| Yes, I will make some more pictures. But,- you won`t believe it - it is pouring rain this morning It will have to wait till later. Of course you are right about the dorsal stripe if you are talking exact colour, but NOT IN ENGLAND In England any brown or buckskin or even cremello or roan is a "dun". The word just means "muddeled colour" in British English . It is used as such by people who have worked with horses all their life This is also the main reason why the poor connemara lost almost all colours. People knew that "dun" horses could give BEC-offspring, so they avoided "real" duns as well as palominoes, smokeys and buckskins and probably other exiting colours as well I even have a book telling that "dun" Connemaras are unhealthy and should not be used for stud!!!!!!!! So both Harriet and you are right. BTW, British English can be very confusing. I remember a British friend who kept talking about "the lemon" and I was totally nonplussed. But she did not mean the fruit, she meant the colour |

I'm glad we're both right yes English is a confusing language It's a shame the pose is so awful on that QH, as the colour is quite unusual from Schleich - the front left leg is really strange looking, I can't imagine what the sculptor was thinking. BTW mine is made in China, what country is your's made in Susanne? _________________ Harriet My *Collection* My *Handmade Animal Sculpture*
