China/Hong Kong stuff has generally been regarded as junk by the worldwide collecting community until very recently, but they are just beginning to become collectable and (some of them) valued. It will probably take a few more years for a wide spectrum of China/Hong Kong items to be valued, but so far a few are, such as the Transogram, a company with HQ in new York City USA but all production in HK, copies of Britains Knights of the Wars of the Roses and the 'Shell Liberty' American War of Independence copies of Britains + extra figures. Some original figures by 'Blue Box, who produced in HK & Singapore are now valued as well.

Probably the best source of info about HK items can be found in STS member Hugh's (a.k.a. 'smallscaleworld') site. Look in the links section for a link - the uber geek plastic expert. Warning - it will take several hours to look though his site properly, but all fascinating stuff, if you like that sort of thing. geek study

I have these tiny dinosaurs for a very long time. Most of them came in the little purple box, which my mother bought for me when she was in London, like, 10 years ago xD

Can someone tell me what these are?

Aww, those tiny dinos are adorable.

The hippo is from Topps series called Baby Wild Animals.
The TOPPS dog series is called Precious Puppies. (Puppy in my Pocket series is by MEG).

Both of the TOPPS series were sold as blind bags. Each series has 24 figures. There's also a similar series called Precious Kitties.

:)

Yes they totally are! :drunken:But I still don't know which brand they are! silent

I have another question. I'm pretty confused at the moment xD I have this beautiful old dinosaurs and their bellies say they're from Safari LTD. But when I search on the internet (and it's in my Gascher's Schleich-S Guide as well), it says they're Schleich's (Carnegie Collection). I see the same with the Vanishing Wild series. Sometimes I see them as Safari LTD, sometimes as Schleich-S. Can someone help me out? scratch Here are the photographs of my Safari LTD/Schleich-S dinosaurs:

The same with AAA models.
Several of the old sea animlas in Gascher's were made by AAA and are marked AAA, - but they were sold by both Bullyland and Schleich...and probably a dozen others Wink

It's often called "cross-licensing" and many figurine makers have done this. Maia y Borges made a subline of marine life that Schleich
sold in the mid-nineties (as with AAA and Safari, Ltd. with Schleich). In this same period, AAA cross-licensed sublines of birds and wild animals were sold by Bullyland.

It can be just as confusing, if not more so, with vintage (made 50+ years ago) stuff, as there were lots of blatant copies made, and companies bought and sold moulds from each other, and there were some figures of which numerous moulds existed (so same figure made by several companies at the same time) and there were packaging/wholesale companies who bought (usually unpainted) figures from various manufacturers and made up their own boxed sets (so sometimes old boxed sets found with figures from 2 or 3 companies together) plus all the people involved died decades ago, so no one left alive to tell present day collectors what was going on. scratch

Thanks Dave, that's very interesting! It's a pity no one's left to tell us what was going on back then scratch

I have some other animals from which I have no ideas where they came from. I still don't know anything about my cute little dinosaurs and I have some others as well. Can someone help me out?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Ferrero? If so, what series?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Not even sure if the dolphin's from the same brand, but they look like each other (materials, style, paint job etc.)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Please let me know if you know anything about one of these animals!

Yes I love him as well! Especially the tongue that's sticking out Very Happy I've never had the pleasure to meet Martin here on the forum, as far as I remember Suspect But this giraffe really looks like it came out a surprise egg, because you had to put it together (you can see that at the neck) and it's pretty small, so it could fit in a surprise egg. But I couldn't find any information about him anywhere scratch
