PostSubject: Marlow Int company: African fauna figures   Marlow Int company: African fauna figures EmptyTue Feb 14, 2012 8:34 pm

Just obtained some interesting figures, set of African animals - these figures are made by Marlow Int company in South Africa and were acquired in Zimbabwe. I don´t like much the figures with base but I could not resist to get these. So, there are some African animals with real African origin in my collection now Wink

As visible, these figures are photographed just after arrival before the cleaning procedure.

Thanks for congrats first... :)

These figures are made by Marlow International for Steers, Steers is a steak and grill chain based in South Africa. I heard about that company never before so I have no clue if my set is complete. The figures are relatively good shaped, I like especially the birds.

Until now I don´t have some species in my collection, so I am happy with the crowned crane (AFAIK there is only one competitor - the outdated Starlux one), cape vulture (the first model of this specie I ever saw) or bateleur (AFAIK there is only one rival from KM).

*squee* A bateleur! cheers
What a great set of models! I like models with bases - it does decrease playability, but I don't mind that. They look more "ornamental" somehow, at least when the base is well made. Very Happy

No doubt You are right, Andreas. Each figure has on the base info about Marlow Int company except the baboon - no base - no such info. Thank You for the alien disclosure :)

This vulture is cape vulture (Gyps coprotheres). This one has dark gray head unlike the great vulture (Gyps fulvus) and the base info says:

Andreas, You are really great hunter! It seems that both figures are in excellent condition for good price (not sure about the shipping fee). Do You know if another species from this set (not mentioned in this thread) were made?

Thank you,. I found this by my hunt for the hamerkop. But i dont buy it because a lion and a cheetah are not so interesting for me. But i hope to find there more in the future, especially your gray crowned crane  Very Happy
