| Sandra, there are some raccoon dogs, again I'll use Christophe's website. I must pay a comission to Christophe for using so often his website and I also need to receive a comission for divulging it so much! Clicking below you will see Playvisions and Caiyodo figures from his collection. Kiki website I also need it! |

| We are so lucky to have Christophes enormous and beautyful collection, and his unique site to drool over, and to show us a lot of models that we never even dreamt about Thankyou Christophe, and thankyou Roger for pointing them out The racoon dogs, - we cal them Marden-dogs in Denmark. They look SO cute But here they are considered an invasive and very unwanted species. They are enormously talented hunters, killing off all the small game, causing the native species to starve and bringing the eco-system out of ballance. Also they may carry rabies and infectous parasitic worms like flat worms Most of the ones in Denmark are pets that escaped. They look so cute, but they ARE wild animals, so people who get one smuggeled into Denmark can be very unpleasantly surprised...and if that person is suficciently ignorant, he or she may just drive out and let the critter loose in a forest. But they DO look very, very cute --- Aaaah, Noora ! You have these lovely models Great pictures and wonderful repaints |

| We have a lot of them in Finland, and like Susanne said, some people see them as unwanted and harmful to the nature. But actually they are really clumsy and not very good hunters. Bigger reason for hunting them is that they eat bird eggs from nests in the ground, and these are the same birds that the hunters would like to hunt themselves. Not very fair for the raccoon dogs, I think. In some countries (like in Finland ) raccoon dogs are raised at fur farms. What makes this even more sad is that in the nature they hibernate in the winter (at least here up north), but at fur farms they aren't given the opportunity. One of my repainted puppies is white, I think that variation exists only at fur farms - mine is a free one though :) _________________ my website: Noora's Ark (last updated 13th of September 2013)

| Roger and Susanne: Christophe's site is awesome. I would visit it more often, but then I'd ruin my computer with all the drool spilling out of my mouth. (gross, I know.) Andreas: I'd love to see the one from the Natural Monument series! Sandra: As you can see from Christophe's site, Kaiyodo makes two "ChocoQ" (chocolate egg) versions of the Raccoon Dog. Noora posted an additional picture of one of them. Here is another picture of the other. I see them both available on eBay pretty regularly. | Guess who is going to get the Kaiyodo Natural Monuments raccoon dog too.. So if no-one else posts pictures of that, I will at some point. The other ChocoQ raccoon dog looks (at least to me) more like the Japanese subspecies, tanuki. I got no scientific proof for this, just my own experience that the ones in Finland have longer fur and shorter snout and the colour is also a bit different. I could be wrong though, I'm sure they look very different at different times of the year. And I suppose Kaiyodo has tried to make both (or maybe all) of them look Japanese and also calls them both tanuki . Anyway, I hope I get that one too at some point, regardless of the subspecies. See, this is what I mean: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] compared to this that looks like the ones I've seen in Finland: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I don't own the photos. _________________ my website: Noora's Ark (last updated 13th of September 2013)
