| During the breakes in learning for my exams, I have been making dhole figure. It's a small Asian dog, very cute and beautiful. I've made one already but it was just ugly and unnatural, so I've been making another one. I've made a small sketch of it. I hope I will manage to make it as good as I can. | WOW! It looks like it is going to be fantastic..it is a great pose and a beautyful animal I always think about Kipling`s Jungle Book, when I hear about the dholes, - horrible story, isn`t it? At that time people still thougfht about some animals as "good" and some as "evil" |

| This is what I've made by far, I consider some small changes but the figure is so small that it is hard to change anything. I will post better pictures tomorrow. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Agata, Agata, that is a brave choice from you. A dhole must be surely a very hard animal to sculpt. First, it is not as recognizable as a African wild dog, for example, not always I see a picture from this animal I am sure what I am seeing. :) Then, it is not designed in our memory as a wolf. Only very subtile details can help distiguishing between a dhole and some other wild dogs. Adding to species choice, a pose very hard to get and a small size. I really like your work but I would love to make some little suggestions. Mainly face, it looks too cat like. if you can make a more pointy snout, with the nose closer to the mouth, it will give a little more fox appearance although not as long as in a fox! Also ears, the space between them in real animals looks similar to the space between eyes, those of your figure need maybe a wider space, a more vertical stance and be somewhat longer. Check Arkive pictures! I think those are minor changes that will improve the figure and give it a more canid look. I am sorry if I am being unpleasant, but if I am giving some of my time to suggest something, it is because I absolutly believe in your work and talent. |

| Thank you Roger, I accept every suggestion and comment - there is no improvement without critique :) As far as nobody else commented it I suppose that it is not likeable, so I consider making it once again and from the whole beginning, but slightly bigger It's my first canine ever made. |

| Great choice, it is my favorite canid species along with the African wild dog. It is such a beautiful animal and your figure is fantastic. |

I don't think you have to ignore your work, actually that is very good for a first try, I think making and remaking is a part of sculpting. Also, myself included, you can read some posts about members appreciating your work. Anyway, it is a good thing that you accept some criticism as long as it is in a construtive way. I never sculpted, so commenting is easy. My only wish is that you continue giving us the pleasure of enjoying us with your beautiful works. |

| Agata, you are very brave to make such a specie (o)): A dhole seems a big enterprise because it is already uneasy to point the characteristic features. IMHO choosing an unusual pose to show an unusual specie is very risky. Unusual pose are better for very easily identifiable species. Then everybody knows what to expect and can enjoy the pose. For a less identifiable specie, a model need to focus on the characteristics. Unless the pose is a characteristic, it would disturb the identification. |
