| Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, I enjoy looking at everyone's custom made models and I thought I'd share some of my works. There aren't many model elephants which are anatomically correct on the market so I have resorted to sculpting my own to my specifications. I've been studying elephant anatomy for years and have spent a lot of time with real elephants observing and sketching. Here are a few models in progress, the front four are sculpted by myself, the white resin models are from the company Paleocraft. Also in the back is my photo reference board.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] 1:20 scale Indian elephant cow in progressI plan on sculpting a Loxodonta cyclotis (forest elephant) soon as well.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]1:20 scale African elephant cow[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Welcome from Portugal! :elephant! I am glad you decided to share your works with us and finally introduce yourself on forum. I agree completely with you, I have a huge trouble with my elephants from major brands, after a short time I end not loving them. All have the same problems, short and chubby legs, huge heads, sometimes wrong number of toes and not talking about other little but important characteristics. The childish style on elephants is abusive and although they are one of the most popular group of animals, often replicated, they are among the figures whose evolution was poorest in these years. Elephants are magnificent creatures, they deserve better representatives. I enjoy a lot the shape your Asian elephant is taking and all your display. I am eager to see how all of your works are developing and a Forest elephant is a great idea indeed. Maybe it is time to make brands follow the great sculptings from vintage brands like Lineol and even Britains look good when compared with newer ones. |

| Hi Roger, thank you for your comment. I agree with you 100% in your statement about most modern elephant models produced by the major companies. It seems looking back at vintage brands like Britains, Lineol, Jeol etc the sculpting was much more accurate and desirable. |

| Ave Maximus I agree about elephants, my favorite modern elephants are the PAPO because they are less odd than the other brands elephants. Paleocraft works are stunning but not cheap enough for my bank account. Your work is beautiful, I hope you will make moulds of such marvels and spread your models on our shelves |

These are truly amazing sculptures and now I can understand your interest in George Ford and other artists working for Britains. |

BTW do You paint Your works too? Ana thank you, yes I was on LG a few years ago. Your sculptures continue to provide inspiration for me as I see each new model you create and cast. I'm actually really interested in mold making and will try to learn it soon, I want to try casting this Asian elephant when its done. Yes, I paint my models as well. - PeGe wrote:

Will you make copies? If I can learn to make a successful mold I plan on casting this elephant. |

I would definitely be interested in one if you did make mould and castings. _________________ Harriet My *Collection* My *Handmade Animal Sculpture*
