| Nice that this topic was brought back from the deep sea of STS. :) I try to not think too much in Japanese brands and fishes, but this set is almost as fantastic as your conversation with Willy! Colorata is tremendous. |

| I had the northern nephew of the alligator gar here just a few months ago, but just 22 cm big so far(Atractosteus oculatus). Somebody trade this fish in with me, and i wonder how some people get those kind of fish, and really think they can keep them in a normal house-aquarium?! I had some little Arapaima's to, which went to a zoo in the end, as they are one of the biggest freshwater fish anyway. The colourscheme on the Colorata model still isn't good, as they have much more red in their fins, but nice that somebody makes them anyway! |

| Yes, you would be wondered if you knew what kind of fish people keep at home, and not only fish! I know that there are people that keep lions at home here! Ok, i understand about the problems with taking pics, but nice to see that some manufacturers make fishmodels, and so many of them1 Good to hear from you again mon ami! |

| And now they've changed it for the third time--the latest change is now a blue arowana! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Which means I will eventually have a third set! |

I've been trying to convince them to do a Paddlefish! It would be a great add. Did Colorata answered you yet? |

We've gone back and forth--they at least agree that it would be a good, appropriate fish to have in the series. The person I have been discussing with did mention that they were also very eager to create a Pantodon butterflyfish, so in both cases, awesome! |

| Hmm.. I wonder if anyone here knows whether they have updates the other models' paint schemes now that they released the 3rd version of the box, like they did when they released the 2nd and updated all models' paintjobs? Or is it just the arowana that has changed at all? |

From the looks of the pictures, it was just the arowana. Although someday I'll hunt down the set and find out for sure. That said, there are now 3 colour variants of Asian arowana in the Colorata sets--does anyone know what the variations are called? |

| Thanks for the reply, sbell - that was my feeling, too, based on the catalogue shots of the new set.
As for the colours of the three arowana, I'm no expert and aside from the obvious (crossback) golden, (super) red and blue, daren't hazard a guess. Perhaps someone else here will know? |

I knew they were all the same species, but I also figured there would be a name for the colour variants. And now I know. |

| So I finally did it--I got my hands on the new blue arowana thanks to Brett: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It looks as good as every Colorata model. Better than my photo. And to compare the 3 color variations: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Same sculpt, same base--but wildly different colours. Which is cool. And I did get it as part of the complete box set--all of the other figures (Neoceratodus, Coelacanth, Polypterus, Alligator Gar, Chinese sturgeon, Arapaima) have minor variations in their paints, but are otherwise similar. They are still unopened. I'm considering selling them as I know there are other people that don't have them--on the other hand, more fish! |
