| Today i was very happy to recieve a set, for which i was searching for a long time, from the time i knew it existed. It is a group of 10 bird-models in about the 1:24 scale, made in the softer hardplastic, that the Hausser Elastolin company used in the 1970's. These birds were sold out of carton boxes with 100 little plastic bags in it, with a range of ten models of birds. In every bag is a little card, with some explanation about the species of bird what was in it. I think the thought was to have 10 birds from Europe. They are not very accurate in colour, or model sometimes, and some of the names in German are not to be found on the internet, so i can't even give the proper name in English for them, but if anybody has good suggestions..., be my guest! There was a same group with mainly fish-species too, and some other aquatic animal-species, which i hope to present you on a short term. Anyway, here are the pics of these birds. This is the box, from which they were sold This is how they are packed, in these little plastic bags with a card with information on the species The complete group 1898 Eurasian Bullfinch 1899 Eremitenvogel in German, but what it really is? It is said to be a marine-bird, about 30,5 cm long, lives on little fish(like sand-eels), and breeds in rabbit-holes, lives on the shores of the northern oceans from Asia and America??? 1900 Great Spotted Woodpecker 1903 Black Bird(it must be a female because it is brown) 1905 Blue Tit 1906 Weisskopfvogel, which means whiteheadbird in English, but the species that has that name, isn't the species what is ment to be here. This one should be living in the north of Africa, and the south of Europe, is about 46 cm long, lives on lakes and breeds in the reeds??? 1908 Sooty Falcon 1911 Owl, in my opinion is the Eurasian Eagle Owl the only one that comes near this model 1913 Eurasian Bittern 1914 Cranebird, ment to be the Eurasian Crane, but has the colours of the Sarus Crane... Anyway, a very nice set, and in OVP, and some more birds in the collection. _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman

| Well Harriet, don't go on the pics, or the colours too much, but more on the names the company gave... And exactly that name isnt' to be found on the net, so maybe it was just an old name for the species in German or so... And with the diescribtion i gave here, on what is on the paper that comes with the model, it couldn't be that species... _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman

| congrats Willy, I really like the crane! They are my favorite types of birds as a group. They are very majestic and regal. We have lots of sandhill cranes here and they are gathering for their winter migration at this time. |

| Thank you Remrock! Yes, the crane-family is majestic indeed, and those dances they make are awesome! I guess you live in the USA or Canada then, as the sandhills live overthere... _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman

| Yes, i agree, as most on these models. But the card which came with this model told about the European crane, but in my eyes, it looked like the Sarus... By the way, has the bittern ended his journey to France? _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman

| Hi Taylor, good to see you again! Thanks, it is a nice and rare set from this brand indeed. The name is in German for this bird you named, but i couldn't find the name in English or even Dutch, so i could find out more about it. It was said to be a marine-bird, or which was living on the edge of the sea... _________________ http://www.collectorsquest.com/collector/1313/willybacoman
