| Hello,
Who knows something about the Schleich Dinosaurs or Prehistoric Animals for 2011?
I hope to hear you soon.

| I love the arctic foxes! I'm so gonna by them. Also, the new rabbits are cute. New horses are okay, but it's a bit boring when all of them just stand and stare. Knabstrupper stallion is my absolute favorite. |

The Bald Eagle is just plain sad. I've seen MANY bald eagles, and I have yet to ever see one with a "pattern" like that on the wings. Boo hiss, Schliech. (btw, the original post listed this as the white-headed sea eagle, which is an uncommon, but accepted, alternative name for this species.
I think the "white-headed sea eagle" is a translation mistake. In German the name for a bald eagle is "Weißkopfseeadler", and when you translate this word for word, you have a white-headed sea eagle That makes sense. Although, I've seen "white-headed sea eagle" listed before as an accepted alternative common name. "Bald" means "white", and they are "sea eagles" (a.k.a. "fish eagles") so it fits anyway. I'd have to check some of my guides, but in the past, some people did know them as white-headed sea eagles or white-headed fish eagles. Name aside, the figure still stinks. White-headed adults don't have a pattern on their wings. How Schleich doesn't realize this astounds me. But then again, they can't even get the slit pupil in the fox's eyes so it doesn't look so goofy. And the Wolverine - what's the story on that gnarly looking figure???? I love wolverines, and Schleich's looks very strange to me. Oh well |

| Subject: Gaps in numbering for wildlife models Mon Nov 15, 2010 1:11 pm | |
| Soneone on the LG forum has raised a really interesting point. He has pointed out that there are gaps in numbers between some of the wildlifeforest models (I know gaps between the farm horses exist as raised earlier here): [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I have then looked back at the preview document of all the new wildlife models from 2010 starting with the number 14601 through to 14631 (all 2010 wild and forest animals) which ends with the rabbit. This year the numbers follow on with 14632 which is the penguin and chick all the way through to 14646 which is the Wolverine. There could be more animals due following on with 14647 but we dont know it and i doubt it. However given that the numbers follow on every year (I havent checked the new models from 2009) there are no gaps in numbers at all with any wildlife or forest model until you look at this year. There are a few gaps in the number and these ones are missing with no information as to what they could be: 14633,14635,14636 and 14637. Either Schleich have forgotten to use these numbers OR we may still be due some new models. This would make sense because then all the new models for 2011 seen so far, including the wolverine, bring the total of wild and forest animal intros to 15 models, much lower than previous years. BUT if you include the missing numbers listed above then we are talking about a possibility of at least 19-20 models or even more (there were 25 in 2010). It is all just speculation but i find it really interesting as I have never looked at the numbering system before. The document I sent out with the 2011 pictures doesnt include the wolverine or anything else so I assume it is an incomplete document sent to suppliers earlier in the year. The wolverine could have been a last minute addition along with other models so again we could have something to look forward to! Thanks to Zooman from the LG forum for bringing this to our attention! |

Bellowing Stag: good pose Fox+ Fox Cub: Very cute ^^ Badger: its ok Badger Babies: ok, but i don't like animals with a base Agree on the stag and badger, but the foxes seem to be even too cute As to the badger babies - I don't like animals with a base too, but in this case they look suprsingly well! I think those are the first figures on a base I like. - Paka wrote:

Hm, maybe those numbers belong to figures that have been in development but for some reasons (economic? aesthetic? marketing?) didn't go in production. _________________ Owners of miniature zoos on shelves, unite! My collector's blog

| Has anyone noticed on "Toys n Hobby" (the link Steve posted) the models to be retired have a dotted red line above the item number? I saw that the King Penguin has it, which is funny because that model wasn't on the chart Torben posted |
