| Thylacosmilus This Sabertooth cat like creature was a carnivorous marsupial that lived in South America during the late Miocene. What makes it different from other Sabertooth creature's (such as Smilodon) is that its bottom jaws were specially shaped to protect its sabers with sheaths, since its was discovered that they continuously grow throughout the lifetime. It is believed that Thylacosmilus used its jaws to hunt down prey in similar Fashion to the Sabertooth cats. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Megaloceros Megaloceros was a Large Deer(In fact the largest Deer Ever) that lived in Europe during the Pleistocene era. Its most striking feature was found in the males of the species which had a pair of incredibly large antlers, that were used the same way that modern deer use there's. and that is they fight each other with them for the opportunity to mate. Sadly, these Antlers made the Megaloceros vulnerable to predators as there size restricted there movement in wooded areas. It didn't help that at the end of the Ice Age, there was more trees that they had to deal with, and the predators that were alive at the time took full advantage of this. Of Course the antlers would shed after the mating season, and they would be able to maneuver through the brush better however, the need to keep them coming back was a struggle for this deer species because the minerals they ate to keep them coming back were being reduced thanks to the new plant life that arrived at the end of the Ice Age. These factors are believed to be the reasons that the Great Irish Elk are extinct. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Doedicurus Doedicurus was a member of the Glyptodont family, which is a family of animals that were related to modern day armadillos, that had a big dome like shell. Doedicurus was special for it had a spiky club on the end of its tale that it used in a similar fashion to the clubs on Ankylosaur Dinosaurs. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| For those of you curios. Here is the mammals compared to some of the Dinosaurs. Like I said, the mammals are made with more material so they are heavier and some are bigger then the dinos [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I just heard that there will be Pterosaurs and Birds to be made by Geoworld in the coming years. (At least that's what one of my Facebook friends said, who claims to have contacted Geowolrds Lead paleontologist on the matter.
I assume they wont be out until 2016
In current news, I might have three new mammals this coming week |

| I think it makes sense that Geo World will release pterosaurs and prehistoric birds. I only wished their design had a slightly different orientation. Though, I find all these collections very nice and with a great sense of collectability. :) Looking forward to see your new figures. |

I would describe my feelings about Geoworld precisely the same way, although I'm not sure Roger and I mean exactly the same thing by it. Very occasionally I'm tempted by one of their models, but normally they just don't look sufficiently naturalistic to me. (It's not the colors, which I quite like. It's the sculpts.) However, I also agree that they are very collectable. And, I think it's really cool that Takama has put up these threads and provided resources for learning more about this company. It's valuable and very helpful. Thank you Takama! |

| Well my latest batch of Mammals is here. 12 down Six more to go. Since a lot of people here like horses i thought i tackle the Hipparion first. Hipparion was a Grazing horse Genus whose species were found in North America, Europe, Africa, and, Asia. Like modern horses it relied on one toe to walk around on, but unlike modern horses it had two extra toes that were practically useless, as they did not touch the ground. Later species of Horse would lose these toes all together. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| That's interesting the coloring they used. Something between a wild horse and a zebra. It makes sense, maybe too much sense. Good choice presenting that one, prheistoric horses can bring some of our horse lovers to the prehistoric world. |

| Eobasileus This Rhino like creature was a member of the uintatheres family. It had large tusk like teeth, and three blunt horns on its skull. Its size was comparable to that of a Modern Black Rhino (Which bares no relation to this species). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
