That's a very realistic painting! If it was not the somewhat off proportions of the figure, I could easily think it was a real lynx.
I dislike very much the original painting although I intend to get it. I also think that Safari made a generic looking North American lynx, not exactly a Canada lynx or a bobcat. I don't know which species you used to make your work but now it looks a perfect bobcat for me, not a Canada lynx. I am glad you'll show more pictures of your great work!

That is indeed much, MUCH better.
I liked the figure when we were shown the first pictures of it, but it looked quite lackluster.
I kept wondering how it would look with a decent paint job.
But now, after seeing your work, I don't feel any more hesitation to put it on my "to buy" list.

I think it is very clearly a Canadian lynx . We can check off all the points that distinguishes it from the bobcat :
- Huge paws
- long legs
- very long under-leg on hind legs
- long tuffs on the ears
- tail with black tip and no stripes

I love this model very much

The sculpt is without any doubts a Canada lynx and I agree with your points. My problem is with the painting. It is correct that Canada lynxes have the tip of their tails black while bobcats have black only on the dorsal tip of the tail being ventral white. An important detail indeed. I may be wrong about the painting but I think leg strips are very rare in Canada lynxes while they're common in bobcats.
There's another thing I don't know, Safari just calls it lynx, it seems in US English lynx is used to Canada lynxes while the bobcat is never called a lynx, if it is right, the ambiguous designation is explained.
I really hope, when having it in my hands, to have a much better opinion about the figure, when I see the mass produced version in pictures, I can't see a realistic looking figure, it looks quite artifitial and this repainting makes a huge difference to the figure.

Finally got photos but they are kind of crappy since it was under artificial lighting. I do have natural light outdoor photos of this model too that I will be uploading later on. These photos here unfortunately made her paint job look rather dark. (Must be the extreme contrast with the white background?)[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

When I saw the original model, from Susanne`s perfect walkaround,
I realy liked the model... of course without the paintwork ... but the way, it is sculpted, it is very prommising ... And now we can see that with your awesome repaint.

And Susanne is right :) If you want and if you have time, to work a bit more on paws ... it will be perfect :)

I realy like, that you know very well how to make the spots, to look realistic, with more diluted paint, to look more transparent ...and in this way, we can see the fur in a realistic way :)

I can`t wait to get one for me...and one day to repaint it also :)

Thank you, Susanne, and thanks for pointing that out! I had quite forgotten just how furry their feet were! (The lynx in the pic has quite a cute face too!)

Yes, on first picture it is hard to see that it is the Safari figure! I love your work, especially the way fur looks realistic, it doesn't look like textured plastic but real fur!

I missed this excellent topic That's what I love with the summaries updating job, it's always a surprise to discover little gems I missed in the STS jungle.

Your paintwork is really good, as Kosta already said your spots are really painted to look so natural. You have exploited the potential odf teh Safari Ltd sculpture and finally brings it to new height

I've never enjoyed the fact that while Safari LTD's 2007 walking white wolf is a gorgeous replica, the turned head...turned me off. Last night, I was so pestered about it, I picked this wolf off the crowded wolf replica shelf she was on and set to work.

Removing the head proved to be the most difficult part, given these models were never meant to be destroyed and put back together, lol. But after repositioning the head and resculpting the mane, I left her dry for a bit and then set to work on hours of dry brushing.

Here is the finished result:

(My apologies for that weird green tint in all the photos. It's just the paint reflecting the greenery of the trees around my house.)
