Viking Spawn's Cicada Book

Wow!  Its been a while since I posted here!  Well, I've been keeping myself busy with my real job and my newest hobby at being an author!  My first book, "The Season of the Cicadas" has been released and is now available at many online sources!  So far, reactions from people who have purchased it has been positive!  

I'm currently working on my second book based on the Praying Mantis which will be released next year!  After that, who knows...  

Sorry for being such a stranger of late.  I need to check in more often.  Haven't bought much lately either, so I'll be needing to catch up on collecting too!

Currently, I have scouted over 1000 mantis egg cases (ootheca) within 20 miles of my home in anticipation of this year's hatch which is approximately 2 months away. There are 2 species found in my neck of the woods which were both accidental immigrants in the U.S. over a century ago.

The larger of the two is the Chinese mantis (Tenodera parasinensis or T. sinensis) and the second is one I'm sure you might be familiar with, the European mantis (Mantis religiosia). I have a chapter written in my next book which explains their initial discoveries in the United States. Digging through old publications to research that information was both fun and interesting. My mantis book will be available around this time, next year and will contain plenty of my photographs.

Yes, during my youth it was almost impossible to spend a day without seeing one of these European mantises around. They were my favorite insects once they look from another planet. Translating litterally, they are known in Portugal as praising God, little Thereses or little horses of God. In my homeland, we used to call them little chairs but there is no references to it anywhere what makes me assume it was just something from my group of friends.

Those are some "new" interesting names I have not heard of yet.  I have a list of aliases included in a chapter already and will look further into these as well!  I've heard the term "rear-horse" which is based on their mannerisms.
