| I still think these little models are incredible. Both the sculpt painting. I think it really shows what we are capable of today. With techniques like 3D modeling and printing. But also the fact that it is international. Models made in one country are finished in the other. That's very cool cooperation. But it is still a craftsmanship because it is finished by hand despite that the world seems to revolve around mass production. I regularly come back here to look at it again. _________________ Anne-Joke ajs.artistry - Instagram AJs Artistry Shop - Etsy |

| Your painting is wonderful, Miguel. Would you be happy to share any of your artistic secrets? I bought some MiniNature models that I’d like to paint, but I have no painting experience and am afraid that I will ruin them.
How do you prepare the models before you paint them? Do you wash them or use primer paint? The colours of your models transition very beautifully into each other. How do you do this? Do you use just normal model brushes or other tools too? One of the models I need to paint is a 1:32 cheetah; do you have any advice on how I should paint the spots? I am afraid that when I use a brush with my unstable hand, they will be large, strangely shaped blobs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

| I have bought some of Mininatures models and they are really fine. But I collect the 1:32 scale and my paintings skills are not so good as Signatus. I will try t posts pics sometime. I have had problems with the printing especially the birds, like in the dead zebra group. But Shapeways is really professionell to deal with.
A question to Signatus - what colors are U using? I use Vallejo which has work fine.

| Thank you Roger and Lennart Roger, Well, it does not have too many secrets. First I give a preparation to the figure so that it can be painted later. In the case of some figures with a very rough surface in which the layers of 3D printing are distinguished, I give a surface resin that softens it, but not in all cases. When it comes to painting I use acrylics applied with the dry brush system or directly in small details. Also pastel colors applied and fixed with a varnish. They give airbrush feeling. With respect to the details of the points of your cheetah figure, I have a horrible pulse and all my life I have fought against it. It consists of being very careful and infinite patience, enjoying what you do Lennart, I use exactly Vallejo acrylics, at the moment I am finishing painting this group carcass with scavengers for a friend and it is really the most difficult to paint! Cheer up ! . _________________ Miguel Likaon - Wildlife Models Shop http://www.likaonmodels.com/ My homemade models : www.signatustudio.com |

| Thank you very much, Miguel. What is a dry brush system? How well does the Vallejo paint stay on the animals? I've read that acrylic paint easily comes off when you touch it. Due to lack of space, I have a rotating display for my animals, which means that they are wrapped and unwrapped fairly regularly. I wonder whether acrylic paint can cope with this or whether it would be better to use oil-based paint. |

I use Vallejo acrylics and never had problems peeling off the surface layer. The acrylic has to be of quality so that it does not happen. In an extreme case you can give a varnish to the final water spray but with this brand I do not think it is necessary. The "dry brush" paint system is very common. It consists of staining the brush or paintbrush with the paint and to eliminate in a rag or paper the majority, rubbing later in the figure with the brush almost dry. Gives a look similar to the airbrush. _________________ Miguel Likaon - Wildlife Models Shop http://www.likaonmodels.com/ My homemade models : www.signatustudio.com |

| Your subspecies choice increased the interest of the figure and surely your work is irrepprochable. Love the eland group with some masterpieces. Even the mass produced are really good, Lineol still the vintage master while the CollectA is surely one of the modern wonders. |
